On the morning of August 8th, leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ca Mau province announced that the Department of Information and Communications had issued an administrative penalty of 7.5 million VND to Ms. NTT (52 years old, residing in Dinh Binh commune, Ca Mau city) for using the Facebook account "Mai Vang" to provide false information. Ms. T. is the person who posted the video alleging she was overcharged for eating Ca Mau crab.
Accordingly, at approximately 8:26 AM on August 4th, Ms. T. used her Facebook account, Mai Vàng, to post the following content: “Everyone saw that they were ripping off customers. They charged 2.5 million VND for 2 crabs, a few clams, and 5 mudskippers in Dat Mui, Ca Mau. You should check before going to a restaurant, it's deserted like a temple, they ripped us off when they saw our family arriving in a car.”
After receiving the information, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ca Mau province verified the information at Huong Dat Mui tourist site (Dat Mui commune, Ngoc Hien district).

Verification results from the Huong Dat Mui tourist site management confirm that the images posted on social media by the account holder Mai Vang were taken at this tourist site.
On August 1st, the Huong Dat Mui tourist spot served a group of 5 people and issued a bill totaling over 1.2 million VND, including: 1 portion of steamed clams (150,000 VND); 1 portion of braised grouper (250,000 VND); 1 portion of grilled mudskipper (125,000 VND); 2 crabs (0.8kg) (600,000 VND); 1 portion of stir-fried water spinach (50,000 VND); a portion of white rice (30,000 VND); 3 wet wipes (9,000 VND); 2 bottles of mineral water (20,000 VND); and 5 raincoats (50,000 VND).
The management of Huong Dat Mui tourist spot confirmed that from July 31st to August 4th, the restaurant did not issue invoices or accept cash for any orders exceeding 2.5 million VND.
The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in coordination with the Department of Information and Communications, the Police, and the Định Bình commune government in Cà Mau City, summoned Ms. NTT, the owner of the Mai Vàng account, for questioning.
Authorities determined that Ms. T. was the one who directly posted the aforementioned content on social media. Ms. T. posted the dishes with a price of 2.5 million VND based on what her husband told her while he was intoxicated. Ms. T. also misheard, only hearing "two million or two and a half million something like that."
Ms. T. and her husband were not the ones paying at the Huong Dat Mui tourist spot; it was an acquaintance from Ninh Binh who paid.
Through working with the authorities, Ms. T. acknowledged that her actions were wrong and pledged not to repeat them. To date, this woman has been fined administratively by the authorities in Ca Mau province as mentioned above.
