The pilot plan to welcome international tourists to Phu Quoc using "vaccine passports" for 6 months will be implemented from November 20. Tourists can also travel to other destinations after staying at the first destination for 7 days, initially connecting Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, Da Nang, Quang Nam, and Quang Ninh.

On October 21, the People's Committee of Kien Giang province announced a pilot plan to welcome international tourists to Phu Quoc using vaccine passports. The implementation period will take place within 6 months right after Phu Quoc residents have been fully vaccinated. Specifically, from November 20, Phu Quoc will organize a number of charter flights to test the process of welcoming and serving guests.

Then, from December 20, the plan will be implemented in two phases. Phase 1 (from December 20, 2021 to March 20, 2022) will pilot to welcome 3,000-5,000 guests/month. After evaluating the results of phase 1, phase 2 (from March 20, 2022 to June 20, 2022) will be implemented on an expanded scale and is expected to welcome 5,000-10,000 guests/month.

The entry subjects are tourists coming from a number of countries and territories with a high level of safety in disease prevention and control. Passengers coming to Phu Quoc need to have a certificate of full vaccination or a certificate of recovery from Covid-19. In addition, both children and adults must have a negative SARS-CoV-2 test certificate using the RT-PCR/RT-LAMP method within 72 hours in English before leaving for Phu Quoc. Children are only allowed to travel with parents or guardians who have completed the full vaccination course.

Along with Kien Giang province, some other localities such as Khanh Hoa, Quang Nam, Da Nang and Quang Ninh have developed plans to restore international tourism activities. In particular, Khanh Hoa, Quang Nam and Da Nang have submitted a document to the Prime Minister asking for permission to welcome international tourists in November, on the condition that workers and package tour guests have been fully vaccinated, staying at hotels and not having contact with the community.
