On the morning of April 27th, locals who were picking wild orchids discovered a man lying dead on a pine-covered hillside in Da Quyn commune (Duc Trong district, Lam Dong province), near the border with Phan Dung commune, Tuy Phong district (Binh Thuan province).
The victim lay dead next to his motorbike in the pine forest. Photo: Vu Hai.
The victim was Nguyen Quoc Phong (42 years old, residing in Ward 7, Vung Tau City). Next to the body was a motorbike with a license plate from Ba Ria - Vung Tau province and some personal belongings.
Initially, the Duc Trong District Police believe that Mr. Phong was most likely traveling alone and died after the motorcycle accident when no one came to his aid. The body of the motorcyclist has now been handed over to his family for funeral arrangements.
The Ta Nang - Phan Dung forest route is considered by travel enthusiasts to be one of the most beautiful trekking routes in Vietnam. However, it is also very dangerous with many deserted sections.
Previously, in May 2018, a 24-year-old hiker died at the waterfall after being missing for several days on this route. In 2017, a female hiker also died in front of her group of friends when she was swept away by the water while conquering Ta Nang - Phan Dung.
