During his state visit to Vietnam on August 21st, the Chairman of the Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee, Pham Duc An, received the King of Bhutan, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, and Queen Jetsun Pema. The Chairman of the Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee provided an overview of Quang Ninh's socio-economic development, emphasizing the province's commitment to sustainable development and improving people's lives. He also expressed his admiration for Bhutan's development philosophy based on the Gross National Happiness (GNH) index, noting similarities with the province's own approach.

The King of Bhutan highly appreciated Vietnam's rapid development, noting that Bhutan could learn from its approach to governance and sustainable economic growth. He shared Bhutan's strategy of developing the economy while preserving culture, the environment, and human well-being, and focusing on developing green, renewable energy. King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck hoped that the cooperative relationship between Bhutan and Vietnam would become increasingly close, with Quang Ninh province becoming an important connecting point for businesses from both sides to enhance cooperation and development.

Later that afternoon, the King and Queen of Bhutan visited Ha Long Bay – a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The visit was not only an opportunity to experience the majestic natural beauty but also contributed to promoting the image of Quang Ninh as a dynamic, friendly, and potentially rich province to international friends, boosting tourism development and international cooperation.
