Many tourists stayed on the islands of Quang Ninh province waiting for the storm to pass.

Due to the impact of Typhoon No. 2, thousands of tourists are still staying on the islands of Co To and Cat Ba districts (Quang Ninh and Hai Phong) and are unable to return to the mainland because of the storm.

On the morning of July 22nd, the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province and the People's Committee of Hai Phong city issued a directive to halt all inland waterway traffic due to the impact of Typhoon No. 2. Regarding preparations, the local authorities mobilized over 2,600 people (including various forces) and hundreds of vehicles to proactively respond to Typhoon No. 2. Many ships anchored in ports were carefully secured by fishermen, while some smaller fishing vessels were hastily returning to shore to find safe anchorage.

According to the report, in Quang Ninh province, nearly 2,000 tourists on the islands of Co To (957 people), Quan Lan (479 people), Minh Chau (489 people), and Ngoc Vung (34 people) have expressed a need for accommodation. The Quang Ninh Department of Tourism and local authorities have requested tourism businesses on the islands to arrange safe accommodation for tourists and ensure the provision of sufficient food and essential supplies.

In response to the developments of Typhoon No. 2 (Typhoon Prapiroon), localities and units in Quang Ninh province have proactively and urgently implemented response plans.

In Cat Hai district, as of 4:30 PM, there were still over 14,000 tourists staying in Cat Ba (over 2,200 international tourists and over 11,000 domestic tourists). However, local authorities stated that they have implemented measures to ensure the safety of tourists and are coordinating with tourism companies to transport tourists back to the mainland when weather conditions permit.

Forecasts indicate the storm will make landfall in Quang Ninh province, therefore the transport sector has directed road management units to prepare emergency response forces at critical locations such as Bai Chay Bridge, Ha Long - Van Don Expressway, and culverts… Bai Chay Bridge will be temporarily closed to pedestrians and non-motorized vehicles when winds exceed level 6.

Typhoon Prapiroon (Typhoon No. 2) is expected to directly affect Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, and other northern coastal provinces in the coming days. Therefore, tourists staying on islands in this area should closely monitor information about the typhoon's development and comply with local authorities' instructions to ensure their safety.

In addition, the units strictly maintained the command duty, duty officer, combat duty, and disaster prevention, rescue, and relief duty regimes. They implemented measures to ensure the safety of warehouses, barracks, vehicles, and vessels; inspected and ensured the technical condition of vehicles, equipment, and materials for readiness to respond to situations caused by storms, ensuring absolute safety of people's lives and property.
