A stylish pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses that can also help the wearer take photos, record videos, listen to music, and receive calls... Priced at just 8 million VND, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg asserts that these sunglasses are the first step in an effort to create "the eyewear of the future."

Following in the footsteps of giants like Google, Amazon, Snapchat, and Lenovo, Facebook is the latest company to enter the smart glasses market. On September 9th, Facebook and the renowned eyewear brand Ray-Ban unveiled a new smart glasses model called Ray-Ban Stories, aiming for a market of the future. Fabio Borsoi, Global Head of Research and Design at EssilorLuxottica, the parent company of Ray-Ban, stated that they redesigned the 1952 Wayfarer sunglasses and incorporated several new technologies to create this smart glasses. EssilorLuxottica also manufactures eyewear for high-end fashion brands such as Burberry, Chanel, Prada, and Versace.

With Ray-Ban Stories sunglasses, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg asserted that these sunglasses are the first step in an effort to create the eyewear of the future, a major contribution to capturing the real world with data or graphics on the internet.

Ray-Ban Stories has a design similar to the brand's familiar fashion glasses, but if you look closely, you'll see two small 5MP dual cameras on either side of the lenses. The wearer simply presses a button and the glasses will begin recording all the images they see. If the button cannot be pressed, users can use the voice command "Facebook, take a picture".Hey Facebook, take a photo) to initiate recording mode. A white flash will appear in front of the glasses when the camera is in use to warn people that they may be in the frame. The footage is from a first-person perspective, so anyone watching the recorded video can see the world through the eyes of the person wearing the glasses.

After recording a video, users need to open the accompanying Facebook View app on their phone to edit and share the video via Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp, or any other social media platform. This smart glasses also integrates Bluetooth and a navigation speaker system, allowing wearers to stream music or make calls without needing any additional devices.

Buyers can choose Ray-Ban Stories in sunglasses or clear lens styles, with frame designs inspired by Ray-Ban's popular Wayfarer, Round, and Meteor styles. Additionally, various lens options are available to meet the needs of those requiring prescription lenses.

Starting at $299 USD (approximately 6,800,000 VND), Ray-Ban Stories are available in the US, Canada, the UK, Italy, Ireland, and Australia on the Ray-Ban website and at authorized retailers.

Previously, most attempts to popularize smart glasses have failed or stalled. Some examples include Google discontinuing sales of its Google Glass smart glasses in early 2015, just two years after its launch; and Snapchat's release of a stylish camera glasses called Spectacles, but its high price meant the device wasn't very successful.

Besides, similar integrated products exist on the market, such as Apple's Apple Watch, Facebook's VR-connected smartwatches, or health-tracking bracelets from Xiaomi, Samsung, Fitbit, etc., but most of them are purely technological in nature. In contrast, Ray-Ban Stories smart sunglasses are a pioneering accessory that prioritizes fashion over technology.

For the fashion industry, this opens up new potential for content creation, whether it's a fashion editor documenting a show without having to look at a phone screen, or a content creator working through a device that no longer requires hands-free operation.
