Bustling preparations for Thai Nguyen Tea Festival

According to the plan, the second Thai Nguyen - Vietnam Tea Festival 2013 will take place from November 9 to 11, 2013. As the location for most of the main events of the Festival, these days the preparations for the Festival in Thai Nguyen City have created an exciting atmosphere from the urban areas to the tea countryside.

Mr. Quan Chi Cong (Vice Chairman of Thai Nguyen City People's Committee) said that in preparation for the 2nd Tea Festival, Thai Nguyen City People's Committee has approved 11 projects on investment, renovation and embellishment of a number of urban technical infrastructure items.

Some major projects include adjusting the signaling system to ensure traffic safety; installing lighting systems; repairing subsidence in street infrastructure; beautifying and planting new trees and flowers...

Along with urban beautification, the City People's Committee has requested relevant agencies to repair the system of electric poles, electric cables, and information cables that cause unsafety and loss of urban beauty; and to inspect and handle violations of construction order, traffic safety, urban beauty and environmental sanitation.

Up to now, 80% of the construction and project volume has been completed. With the urgent progress of the preparation work, Thai Nguyen City will certainly have a new look contributing to the success of the 2013 Tea Festival.

The Tea Culture Festival is one of the key events of the Tea Festival. Thai Nguyen City has selected 5 traditional craft villages to register with the Organizing Committee to participate in the festival. During the Festival, there will be many tourist groups. Therefore, the City People's Committee has directed the Economic Department to coordinate with localities located in the geographical indication area of ​​Tan Cuong specialty tea and farmers to carry out the work of arranging and taking care of tea gardens.

Farmers are excited to take care of and tidy up their tea gardens to prepare for the Tea Festival.

The traditional tea village of Cay Thi hamlet (Phuc Xuan commune) was chosen to participate in the tea culture festival. Responding to the festival's activities such as displaying products, introducing tea ceremony, tea making art, golden hand competition (tea roasting), golden tea buds (delicious tea)..., farmers of Cay Thi hamlet are eagerly preparing materials, practicing skills with the desire to bring to the festival famous tea products, the secret techniques of tea processing.

Mr. Do Xuan Ngu (Head of Cay Thi hamlet, Phuc Xuan commune) said that upon receiving the invitation letter from the Festival Organizing Committee and the direction of the City People's Committee, he organized a hamlet meeting to approve the program.

Throughout the past month, the villagers have been eagerly discussing how to select the best and most special batches of tea to participate in the festival. Those who have been selected to participate in the competitions have been practicing diligently not only with the goal of becoming real artisans but also to improve their production skills.

Also a tea-producing village chosen to participate in the tea culture festival, Mr. Do Van Doan (Head of Hong Thai 1 hamlet, Tan Cuong commune) said that during the 2011 Tea Festival, many groups of visitors came to Hong Thai 1 hamlet to enjoy and talk about the tea profession, the art of making tea, and enjoying tea.

The festival is an opportunity for tea products and the work of tea makers to be recognized and honored. Realizing that value and significance, Hong Thai 1 farmers have been urgently preparing the best conditions to introduce to tourists about tea products and the tea making profession of the village.

Mr. Le Quang Nghin (Hong Thai 2 Hamlet, Tan Cuong Commune) said that, like the first Festival, his family's spacious tea plantation, located right next to the road to the commune center, was chosen as a tourist attraction and the place where the tea picking and tea drying competition took place.

With financial support from the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen City, for over a month, he has been taking care of the tea hills under the guidance of professional staff. In addition to supporting farmers with finances and techniques, the Festival is an opportunity for tea growers to learn and improve their experience and skills in tea production and processing.

Mr. Nghin proudly said that with the current care and maintenance methods, when the Festival takes place, his family's tea hill will be a model tea hill, ideal for the ladies and tea farmers to freely demonstrate their skillful skills with tea leaves and tea buds.
