Tan Son Nhat International Airport experienced a very busy period during the Lunar New Year holiday of 2025, with a surge in the number of flights and passengers, far exceeding normal days.

According to information from Tan Son Nhat International Airport, on February 2nd (the 5th day of the Lunar New Year) - the last day of the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday - the airport welcomed a large number of passengers returning to Ho Chi Minh City. Specifically, the total number of flights was expected to be 979, including 488 departures and 491 arrivals.

According to a report from the Civil Aviation Authority, during the Lunar New Year holiday in 2025 (from January 24th to February 2nd, or from the 25th day of the 12th lunar month to the 5th day of the 1st lunar month of the Year of the Snake), the total passenger transport volume across the entire market reached 2.5 million passengers, an increase of 17.8%.

Of that total, international passenger transport reached 1.35 million passengers, an increase of 23%; domestic passenger transport reached 1.14 million passengers, an increase of 12% compared to the same period in 2024.

Vietnamese airlines transported over 1.67 million passengers, a 12.8% increase, and nearly 7,000 tons of cargo, a 4% increase, compared to the same period in 2024; international flights reached over 536,000 passengers and over 3,600 tons of cargo, a 14% increase in passengers and a slight 1.1% increase in cargo compared to the same period in 2024. Domestic flights reached over 1.1 million passengers and 3,200 tons of cargo, a 12% increase in passengers and a 7.4% increase in cargo compared to the same period in 2024.
