According to information from Tan Son Nhat International Airport, on February 2nd (the 5th day of the Lunar New Year) - the last day of the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday - the airport welcomed a large number of passengers returning to Ho Chi Minh City. Specifically, the total number of flights was expected to be 979, including 488 departures and 491 arrivals.
The largest airport in the South is also expected to welcome a total of 150,512 passengers. Of these, 57,194 are departing passengers and 93,318 are arriving passengers. Tan Son Nhat International Airport also forecasts that during the peak period of the Lunar New Year 2025 (from the 15th day of the 12th lunar month to the 15th day of the 1st lunar month of the Year of the Snake, i.e., from January 14th to February 12th, 2025), Tan Son Nhat Airport will welcome over 4 million passengers.

In the baggage claim area, thousands of passengers waited their turn. Some looked tired from waking up early for their morning flights. Most passengers on the early morning flights on February 3rd were trying to get back home in time to drop off their luggage and prepare for their first workday of the new year.
As midday approached, the number of landing flights showed no signs of decreasing. The baggage claim area remained extremely crowded. Some passengers reported having to wait 15-30 minutes to retrieve their luggage. Furthermore, the number of passengers arriving at the international departure terminal continued to increase significantly.
Outside the domestic terminal, the taxi and bus pick-up area was packed with people and their luggage. Vehicles were rushing in to pick up passengers under the guidance and direction of airport security and airline staff.
Meanwhile, at the TCP parking area, ride-hailing vehicles were bustling with passengers. Many people expressed impatience because they had waited too long without being able to catch a ride, as vehicles took a long time to enter and exit the airport.

According to a report from the Civil Aviation Authority, during the Lunar New Year holiday in 2025 (from January 24th to February 2nd, or from the 25th day of the 12th lunar month to the 5th day of the 1st lunar month of the Year of the Snake), the total passenger transport volume across the entire market reached 2.5 million passengers, an increase of 17.8%.
Of that total, international passenger transport reached 1.35 million passengers, an increase of 23%; domestic passenger transport reached 1.14 million passengers, an increase of 12% compared to the same period in 2024.
Vietnamese airlines transported over 1.67 million passengers, a 12.8% increase, and nearly 7,000 tons of cargo, a 4% increase, compared to the same period in 2024; international flights reached over 536,000 passengers and over 3,600 tons of cargo, a 14% increase in passengers and a slight 1.1% increase in cargo compared to the same period in 2024. Domestic flights reached over 1.1 million passengers and 3,200 tons of cargo, a 12% increase in passengers and a 7.4% increase in cargo compared to the same period in 2024.
