The shop has been around for over 20 years, starting when Mr. Thuan’s wife decided to open it to earn extra income. After his wife retired, Mr. Thuan took over the business, both to have something to do for fun and to preserve some of the beautiful memories of his family and community. For him, the shop is not only a place to do business, but also a place to create joy and connection between sellers and customers.
He confided: “I mainly sell to students. Seeing them eat happily makes me happy too.” The simple but emotional words of a person who has been attached to this job not only for the benefits, but also for the passion and dedication to customers.

Located deep in a small alley on Be Van Dan Street, Quang Trung, Ha Dong, Uncle Thuan's yogurt and fried chicken shop is a place that preserves the flavors of childhood for generations.
The space of the restaurant is as rustic as the taste of the food here. A few red plastic tables and green chairs are neatly arranged, a simple electric fan blows a gentle breeze from the alley, creating a cool, pleasant feeling. Although not spacious or convenient, the simplicity brings a close, familiar atmosphere. Sitting at the restaurant, you can see groups of students laughing happily after school, or middle-aged customers quietly enjoying a yogurt pot, as if rediscovering a part of their childhood memories. There are customers who have been with the restaurant since they were young, now bringing their children and grandchildren to enjoy, making the restaurant not only a place to eat but also a place to preserve memories.

Uncle Thuan, owner of yogurt and chicken drumstick shop
Although the menu is not too diverse, it is special because of two "signature" dishes that almost everyone who comes here must try: chicken thighs and yogurt. The fried dough sticks have a small, cute shape like a chicken thigh, so they are called "chicken thighs fried dough sticks". When you bite into them, you will feel the crispy outer layer, the sweet powdered sugar covering a soft, spongy layer of dough inside. In particular, the fried dough sticks are not greasy at all, but still retain a light, natural flavor. With a price of only 15,000 VND for 10 pieces, these small fried dough sticks seem to be born to be enjoyed with friends. Holding a hot fried dough stick in your hand, you don't need chopsticks or a spoon, just a light bite and the sweet taste will fill your tongue.

A cool jar of yogurt and some crispy fried dough sticks will be ideal afternoon snacks.
After enjoying the crispy outside, spongy inside, slightly sweet fried dough sticks, people can order a cup of iced yogurt to “quench their thirst”. The yogurt at the shop makes many people nostalgically remember the iced yogurt in tightly tied nylon bags of the past. It was a familiar snack of childhood, when children gathered together, biting the end of the yogurt bag, sucking slowly to feel the cool taste spreading in their mouths. Although time has passed, that image is always a beautiful part of the memories of many generations.
Nowadays, for convenience and hygiene, yogurt is stored in small, pretty plastic jars, but the flavor remains the same as ever. The yogurt here has a light, refreshing sour taste, and is not too sweet, creating a pleasant, non-greasy feeling. Each spoonful of yogurt put into the mouth is a perfect blend of the smooth taste of fermented cow's milk and the coolness of shaved ice, as if dispelling the heat of summer.
The simplicity of the shop will help you find peaceful, gentle moments amidst the hustle and bustle of life.

Currently, Mr. Long, a relative of Uncle Thuan, still helps out at the restaurant every day.

Sitting under the shade of the small alley, enjoying each spoonful of cool yogurt, diners not only feel the pure delicious taste, but also savor each piece of childhood memories. There, there are hot summer days, crisp laughter, and small but meaningful joys. Each jar of yogurt costs only 4,000 VND on the spot and 5,000 VND if taken away - an affordable price, especially for students.
The yogurt and fried chicken at Uncle Thuan’s restaurant are not only delicious but also a symbol of childhood. In an era dominated by industrial processing technology, simple, handmade dishes like these are becoming more and more precious. They not only fill the stomach, but also nourish the soul, reminding us of a carefree, innocent time.
If you have the opportunity to visit Be Van Dan street, don't forget to visit Uncle Thuan's shop. A jar of yogurt, some crispy fried dough sticks and the shop's simple atmosphere will help you find peaceful, gentle moments in the midst of a busy life.
