Inspecting the preparation of facilities, service conditions, and locations for events and activities at the Quoc Hoc Monument stage, Nguyen Dinh Chieu pedestrian street, Tu Tuong Park, and Thuong Bac Park (Hue City), the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Nguyen Thanh Binh, highly appreciated the proactive efforts of Hue City and the units in coordinating and implementing the tasks serving the Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2023.
Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Binh requested that all units focus on a comprehensive review, coordinate closely, and promptly implement the remaining stages. This includes arranging exhibition spaces in a synchronized manner, creating interaction, harmony, and a fresh, unique atmosphere. At the same time, safety and meticulous planning are essential, along with the smooth operation and interconnectedness of the organizational systems, to create a distinctive, impressive, and attractive space for the Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2023.
Traditional craft villages in Hue
Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Binh noted that agencies and units need to proactively develop plans to ensure food safety and hygiene, environmental landscape, effectively manage traffic flow, ensure security and social order, and prevent fires and explosions in the areas where activities take place throughout the festival, ensuring the safety of tourists and people participating in the activities.
Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Binh requested the Hue City People's Committee to direct the construction units to accelerate progress while ensuring technical safety and the safety of workers during construction. He also requested the Hue City People's Committee to regularly inspect and supervise the construction of the main stage for the opening night and the areas for displaying traditional craft products from various localities. He emphasized that the grandstands must be constructed on schedule, meet technical safety standards, and ensure good visibility for the audience to fully enjoy the program. The goal is to ensure the best conditions for the festival to be safe, healthy, showcase Hue's cultural identity, and leave a positive and memorable impression on both locals and tourists.
The 9th Hue Traditional Craft Festival – 2023, themed “The Quintessence of Vietnamese Crafts,” took place from April 28th to May 5th, 2023. The Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2023 is a national-level event with international elements, aiming to affirm and enhance Hue's status as a "Green Ancient Capital - World Heritage Site - Safe and Friendly City," honoring and spreading the value of national cultural heritage; further improving the efficiency of production and business, and innovating traditional craft products based on Hue culture and national culture. At the same time, it was an opportunity to strengthen joint ventures, partnerships, and investment cooperation in all fields, especially promoting socio-economic growth and bringing traditional craft products closer to tourism and domestic and international markets.
The Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2023 includes 21 craft groups, including weaving; fine art woodworking, sculpture, inlay, lacquerware, gold leaf painting; jewelry; rattan and bamboo weaving, bamboo handicrafts; conical hats; incense; banh tet and banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes); sesame candy… with the participation of 69 craft villages and establishments and over 350 artisans and master craftsmen from famous craft villages nationwide: Hoa Binh, Hanoi, Thai Binh, Ninh Thuan, Quang Nam, Nghe An…
Along with a series of cultural and artistic activities, folk festivals, royal court festivals, and community activities within the framework of Hue Festival 2023, the Hue Traditional Craft Festival will bring together traditional programs and activities such as: Exhibition spaces, demonstrations, and introductions of traditional craft products and craft villages from Hue, some typical localities nationwide and international cities; the Ceremony of Worshipping the Ancestors of the Hundred Crafts and the Procession to Honor Crafts - a ceremony to express gratitude and honor the values of traditional Vietnamese handicrafts, honoring and remembering the contributions of ancestors, honoring craft villages, generations of artisans, and other attractive programs, contributing to creating a new and unique Festival.
