This information was provided by Thai Deputy Government Spokesperson Traisuree Taisaranakul on March 28, who also affirmed that the Thai government will continue to provide various solutions, such as upgrading online one-stop public services, to support international tourists in conveniently entering, exiting, and staying in Thailand.
Ms. Traisuree stated that the Thai government has urged hotel and restaurant businesses to demonstrate hospitality and provide services at reasonable prices, in light of some restaurants and hotels doubling or tripling their service prices due to surged demand.

Chamnan Srisawat, chairman of the Tourism Council of Thailand, expressed optimism today (March 29) that at least 30 million international tourists will visit Thailand in 2023, contributing approximately 1.5 trillion baht (about US$43.74 billion) to the economy.
According to the Tourism Authority of Thailand, the number of tourists from China to Thailand has increased sharply since the Chinese government opened its borders on January 8th. It is estimated that more than 400,000 Chinese tourists have visited Thailand, and this number is expected to continue to rise significantly during Thailand's Songkran water festival in April.
Tourism is one of the main pillars of the Thai economy, accounting for up to 12% of the country's GDP before the Covid-19 pandemic. The Thai government expects around 30 million international tourists to visit the country in 2023, contributing to a 3.8-4% GDP growth for the year.
