The Thai government has approved a six-month extension of visa exemptions for visitors from India and Taiwan, from May 4 to November 11, 2024. The purpose of this extension is to attract more visitors from these two important markets, contributing to promoting the Thai tourism industry, which is facing many difficulties due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Thailand has introduced a visa-free entry program for visitors from India and Taiwan (China) for the first time since November 2023, which expired on May 4. Under this policy, visitors from India and Taiwan (China) can stay in Thailand for up to 30 days at a time without a visa.

Under the new policy, visitors from India and Taiwan can stay in Thailand for up to 30 days at a time without a visa. To be eligible for the new policy, they must meet conditions such as a passport valid for at least 6 months, proof of sufficient financial capacity to cover living expenses during their stay in Thailand, and a return ticket or onward ticket to another country.
Thailand has eased visa requirements for tourists from several key markets, including China and Russia. Thailand welcomed more than 12 million international visitors in the first four months of this year, up 39% from the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Tourism and Sports. The largest groups of visitors came from China, Malaysia, Russia, South Korea and India, accounting for half of all arrivals in the first four months of the year. The Srettha administration has set a target of attracting 80 million tourists by 2027, double the record 41 million visitors recorded in 2019 before the pandemic.
