Previously, on October 11, 2021, the information that Da Nang City had been selected as the host city for Routes Asia 2022 was announced at World Routes 2021 (World Air Route Development Forum 2021) held in Milan, Italy.
During the Tourism-Aviation Cooperation Program and the promotion of flights to Da Nang, Mr. Tran Phuoc Son, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee, stated that international flights to Da Nang have been almost completely suspended since March 2021, causing significant difficulties for the tourism industry. Therefore, to boost the plan to welcome international tourists, the city government has approved hosting the Asian Air Route Development Forum, jointly organized by the Da Nang City People's Committee and the Inter-Pacific Group (IPPG). This is the only event in the Asia-Pacific region focused on developing air routes and connecting aviation networks.

The 16th Asian Air Route Development Forum 2022 is expected to attract over 500 delegates, representing 110 airlines and 200 domestic and international airports to Da Nang. According to Mr. Son, this is not only an opportunity to promote Da Nang to airlines but also to support the development of international air routes to and from Da Nang. The city is also hoping that the positive impact of the event will bring the tourism industry back to its pre-Covid-19 growth levels.

In addition, Da Nang successfully renewed its Airport Health Accreditation (AHA) certification, as recommended by ICAO and guided by ACI's recovery guidelines, for another year from December 4, 2021. The AHA certification is designed to help airports worldwide demonstrate to passengers, regulators, and governments that they prioritize passenger health and safety.
