Located in Meishan Township, Chiayi County, Taiwan, the Taiping Cloud Bridge is situated within the Alishan National Scenic Area. The 281-meter-long bridge spans Taipingshan and Guishan, 1,000 meters above sea level. It is one of the most scenic suspension bridges in Taiwan. From the bridge, visitors can admire the sunset, surrounded by a sea of clouds, the strait, and the Chianan region. It's also an ideal romantic spot for couples.
Visitors traveling by train or high-speed train can get off at Chiayi Station and transfer to a bus to Meishan. Bus routes 7304, 7315, and 7323 all depart from Chiayi Train Station. At the Meishan bus stop, visitors can transfer to a bus to Taiping Suspension Bridge and then receive further guidance from the management. There are also many other scenic spots nearby, such as Sanyuan Temple, Makino Bamboo Forest, and Yunzhinan Road.
The Taiping Cloud Bridge, 281 meters long, spans Taipingshan and Guishan at an altitude of 1,000 meters above sea level, making it the most scenic bridge in Taiwan.
The bridge has a capacity of up to 500 people traveling at the same time. In addition, visitors will have the opportunity to explore diverse flora and fauna along with majestic natural scenery, reaching altitudes of over 1,000 meters. Particularly noteworthy are the two areas of Taiping Pass 36. The initial ticket price is set at NT$100 (US$3.20) for adults and tourists, NT$80 for students, NT$50 for children and those over 65, and NT$30 for local residents.
With panoramic views of the Chiayi-Tainan Plain and the Taiwan Strait, this is a spectacular spot to admire the sea of clouds and the famous Meishan Pass with its 36 hairpin bends. Designed to resemble a dragon, the northern tower symbolizes the dragon's head rising (believed to bring good luck) and the southern tower symbolizes the dragon's tail.

On a clear day, visitors can easily see the entire western side of Taiwan. On cloudy days, however, it truly feels like being transported to a tranquil place. Long stretches of hills and mountains are shrouded in mist and fog from base to summit, with rows of trees appearing like faint ink strokes adorning the surrounding landscape.

The Taiping Cloud Bridge spans two mountain slopes near the summit, secured by thick cables, and lies over a deep, steep valley to the west. At 281 meters long, it is one of Taiwan's longest and highest suspension bridges.

Taiping Pass 36 is also a must-see destination, as it comprises a cluster of 36 hairpin bends at an altitude of approximately 900 meters. Each bend is clearly numbered on a chestnut-colored sign. Along the way, there are several observation decks for visitors to admire the scenery. As you wind your way around the hillside, you'll see towering trees reaching straight up to the azure sky. Waiting at the top, at the end of the journey, is a panoramic view of the vast coastal plain.
