The public bicycle sharing system in Hue will be a new urban transportation solution, helping residents and tourists switch to an environmentally friendly mode of transport. The system is conveniently implemented for picking up and returning bikes at various points throughout the city, suitable for short journeys, contributing to improved public health and promoting the cultural heritage of Hue.
Locals and tourists use smart QR codes with GPS tracking that allow them to lock/unlock their vehicles using a QR code scanned with a smartphone and electronic payment methods.

Bicycle management units are applying IT technology systems to manage operations, and simultaneously deploying a common application (App) for managing bicycle activities; connecting with the province's Smart City Monitoring and Operating Center to unify management and supervision, and improve service quality.
Over 120 public shared bicycles are being piloted at 7 stations along both banks of the Perfume River in the city center. These stations include the Nam Xương and Nam Thắng straits; Nguyễn Văn Trỗi Park (Đoàn Thị Điểm Street); Tòa Khâm boat dock; Nghinh Lương Đình Park; the Ho Chi Minh Museum parking lot; and 11 Lê Lợi Street.
The pilot project for a public shared bicycle system in the central area of Hue City was implemented from June 2022 to December 2023. Initially, Hue City piloted this bicycle route with 7 stations located on both banks of the Perfume River and within the Imperial Citadel area, each station having 10-20 bicycles equipped with QR code smart locks.

The project, once operational, will create a new feature, well-suited to the city's topography. Hue city's roads are generally narrow, and the population density is high. Historical sites, tourist attractions, and heritage areas are located within residential communities. Therefore, developing bicycle services for tourism will provide convenience for visitors.
The pilot bicycle system is part of Phase 1 of the "Public Bicycle Sharing" Project implemented in Hue City. The model is expected to conclude at the end of 2022. Phase 2 will build upon the results of Phase 1 and conduct a larger-scale pilot program. Phase 3 will continue the pilot program, integrating the application's features; managing, operating, and maintaining the system for stable operation, and will conclude at the end of 2023.
