The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport has repeatedly proposed setting up public bicycle stations around the city. On October 18, the project was officially tested with an initial price of 5,000 VND for 30 minutes, 10,000 VND for 60 minutes, and for the first one to three months there will be no charge for only 15 minutes of use. People must pay before using the bike. If the usage time exceeds the previously registered time, the smart lock on the bike will report to the monitoring center.

To use the service, people download the Mobike app and scan around to find the nearest bus station. Each bike has a QR code attached, which must be scanned by the app to unlock and use. To avoid theft, when registering to use the service, users must verify their personal information. In addition, each bike is also attached to an identification tag with GPS connection so that operators can monitor the number of bikes at each station or the location of each bike.

The stations are being tested in District 1 and District 3. If the test results are positive, the public bicycle rental service will officially come into operation. This means that more priority routes will be opened exclusively for this special vehicle, and traffic congestion and air pollution will also be significantly reduced.
