Experience the "traditional" spring festivities with the "Essence of Northern Vietnam" spring festival.
With the aspiration to promote the quintessential cultural features of Northern Vietnam through the language of art, "The Quintessence of Northern Vietnam" is a live performance combining traditional folk elements while still meeting entertainment needs, presented in a modern and creative style. Features include: a cast of local actors, a large-scale prop system, and the most advanced sound and lighting equipment available today, offering visitors a unique and memorable experience of Vietnamese culture.
Many forms of folk art are recreated in "The Quintessence of Northern Vietnam".
The Spring Festival will recreate traditional folk games such as swinging, pot smashing, walking on a bridge, and catching eels in a jar; or the atmosphere of a traditional rural market during Tet (Lunar New Year) in 2019, from the 6th to the 20th day of the first lunar month (February 10-24, 2019). "The Quintessence of Northern Vietnam" will take place on a vast green lawn spanning over 12,000 square meters.2Amidst the vibrant flower gardens within the grounds of the La Paz Hanoi Hotel, part of the Baara Land entertainment and cultural complex.
The atmosphere of the Spring Festival evokes the traditional Tet (Lunar New Year) customs of Northern Vietnam.
In addition, the "Essence of Northern Vietnam" Spring Festival also provides ample space for children to receive calligraphy from traditional calligraphers, make clay figurines, participate in traditional cake-making classes, and play folk games that are rarely seen today, such as kite flying, playing catch, and O An Quan (a traditional board game).
In addition, families can combine their visit to the festival with spring excursions and temple visits at nearby attractions such as Duong Lam ancient village, Thuy Pagoda, and Tay Phuong Pagoda.
The Year of the Pig, a joyful Human Chess Festival.
Human chess is one of the unique folk games played during festivals in the Northern Delta region, especially during the Lunar New Year. With the desire to revive this folk game, which is both rich in sporting spirit and intellectual depth, and deeply rooted in Vietnamese national identity, and is gradually fading away, "The Quintessence of Northern Vietnam" created the Human Chess event for the 2019 Lunar New Year (Year of the Pig).
The Human Chess Tournament is recruiting players in December, with exciting rounds expected in January, and the Human Chess Champion to be crowned on the main day of the Spring Festival "Essence of Northern Vietnam" on the 6th day of the Lunar New Year (February 10, 2019). During the Human Chess Tournament, visitors can also participate in the "Making Cakes with Artisans" program, personally wrapping and boiling traditional cakes such as banh chung, banh gai, and banh gio, and bringing these flavorful Tet-themed products home to their families.
