In the solemnity and significance of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day, Ho Chi Minh City has planned to organize a series of solemn activities, including comprehensive practice, preliminary rehearsal, general rehearsal and official events. To ensure absolute security and order and smooth traffic safety for these important events, especially on the official holiday of April 30, 2025, the Traffic Police Department (PC08) under the City Police has issued a notice prohibiting and restricting traffic on many major routes in the central area.
This decision was made with the ultimate goal of ensuring that security and order (SOC) and traffic safety and order (TSATGT) are strictly implemented, best serving the organization of training sessions, preliminary rehearsals at the State level, general rehearsals at the State level and especially the official celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day. The announcement from PC08 Department clearly stated that specific areas and routes will apply measures to prohibit people and vehicles from circulating, prohibit stopping and parking, as well as restrict people and vehicles from circulating during certain periods of time.
In order to ensure security, order and traffic safety to serve the official organization of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day, Ho Chi Minh City has restricted and banned traffic on some routes.
Accordingly, a series of routes and central areas will be affected by these regulations. Specifically, Ba Son Bridge, in the direction of movement from Thu Duc City to District 1, starting from the intersection between D6 Street and R12 Street, will be banned from traffic. Next, Nguyen Binh Khiem Street, from the intersection with Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street to Nguyen Huu Canh Street, will also be restricted. Similarly, Dinh Tien Hoang Street, from Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street to Le Duan Street, and Ton Duc Thang Street, from Le Duan Street to the U-turn point in front of 37 Ton Duc Thang, will also apply similar measures.
The following routes will be closed to traffic, prohibited from stopping and restricted from movement, except for vehicles with event identification cards.
Other important routes such as Mac Dinh Chi Street (from Tran Cao Van Street to Nguyen Du Street), Hai Ba Trung Street (from Vo Van Tan Street to Ly Tu Trong Street), Pham Ngoc Thach Street (from Turtle Lake Roundabout to Notre Dame Cathedral), Pasteur Street (from Vo Van Tan Street to Ly Tu Trong Street), Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street (from Vo Van Tan Street to Ly Tu Trong Street), and Truong Dinh Street (from Vo Van Tan Street to Ly Tu Trong Street) are all on the list of prohibited or restricted routes.
On the official anniversary day (April 30, 2025), traffic and parking will be prohibited from 3am to 12pm on the same day.
In addition, the routes connecting and located within the boundaries of the above-mentioned main roads will also be affected. Typically, routes such as Le Duan, Nguyen Van Chiem, Le Quy Don, Huyen Tran Cong Chua, Le Van Huu, Han Thuyen, Alexandre De Rhodes, Cong Xa Paris, Dang Tran Con, Thu Khoa Huan, Nguyen Trung Truc, Dong Khoi, Nguyen Du (from Ton Duc Thang Street to the border of Cach Mang Thang 8 Street), and Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street (from Nguyen Binh Khiem Street to the border of Cach Mang Thang 8 Street). This traffic adjustment is to create a safe and airy space for parades, marches and other important ceremonies.
In particular, on the official anniversary day, April 30, 2025, the ban on vehicles circulating and stopping will be strictly enforced from 3:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This is the time when the main activities of the ceremony take place, requiring the highest security and order.
Due to limited parking in the restricted area, people are advised to use buses or metro (Ba Son station, City Theater, Ben Thanh) to travel.
According to the announcement from PC08 Department, in the restricted traffic area, only individuals and organizations that need to move on foot to their homes, to hotels for accommodation, or staff who urgently need to work at agencies and units are allowed to move along the proven route. To be allowed to move in the restricted area, people need to present valid identification documents such as citizen identification cards, passports, etc. to prove the purpose of travel. In case of necessity, people can contact the police station in charge of the residential area for support and guidance on how to move into the restricted security area according to the instructions of the force on duty to ensure security and order.
People can watch the parade through 21 LED screens on central streets (Le Duan, Nam Ky Khoi Nghia, Nguyen Hue, etc.) or on VTV1, VOV1.
However, it should be noted that personal vehicles will not be allowed into the area where security has been established, so people need to proactively arrange a place to park their vehicles outside before the authorities set up a barrier to control people and vehicles.
The City Department of Traffic and Public Works also pays special attention to all drivers of vehicles to strictly follow the instructions of the Traffic Police, traffic regulators, as well as absolutely obey the traffic signal system on the road. The cooperation and compliance of the people will contribute significantly to ensuring traffic safety and the success of the activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.
