In the solemnity and significance of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country, Ho Chi Minh City has planned a series of grand activities, including rehearsals, preliminary rehearsals, general rehearsals, and the official event. To ensure absolute security and order, and smooth traffic flow for these important events, especially on the official day, April 30, 2025, the Traffic Police Department (PC08) of the Ho Chi Minh City Police has issued a notice regarding traffic bans and restrictions on many major roads in the central area.
This decision was made with the ultimate goal of ensuring that security and public order (ANTT) and traffic safety (TTATGT) are strictly enforced, best serving the organization of national-level rehearsals, preliminary rehearsals, and especially the official celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification. The announcement from PC08 (Police Department 08) clearly stated the specific areas and routes where measures prohibiting the movement of people and vehicles, prohibiting stopping and parking, and restricting the movement of people and vehicles during certain periods will be applied.
To ensure security, public order, and traffic safety during the official celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and National Reunification, Ho Chi Minh City is implementing restrictions and road closures on some routes.
Accordingly, a number of routes and central areas will be affected by these regulations. Specifically, the Ba Son Bridge, in the direction from Thu Duc City to District 1, starting from the intersection of D6 and R12 roads, will be closed to traffic. Next, Nguyen Binh Khiem Street, from the intersection with Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street to Nguyen Huu Canh Street, will also be restricted. Similarly, Dinh Tien Hoang Street, from Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street to Le Duan Street, and Ton Duc Thang Street, from Le Duan Street to the U-turn point before 37 Ton Duc Thang Street, will also have similar measures applied.
The following routes will be closed to traffic, parking is prohibited, and movement is restricted, except for vehicles with identification tags serving the event.
Other important routes such as Mac Dinh Chi Street (section from Tran Cao Van Street to Nguyen Du Street), Hai Ba Trung Street (section from the intersection with Vo Van Tan Street to the intersection with Ly Tu Trong Street), Pham Ngoc Thach Street (section from Ho Con Rua roundabout to Notre Dame Cathedral), Pasteur Street (section from the intersection with Vo Van Tan Street to the intersection with Ly Tu Trong Street), Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street (section from the intersection with Vo Van Tan Street to the intersection with Ly Tu Trong Street), and Truong Dinh Street (section from the intersection with Vo Van Tan Street to the intersection with Ly Tu Trong Street) are all on the list of routes where traffic is prohibited or restricted.
On the official anniversary day (April 30, 2025), traffic and parking will be prohibited from 3:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
In addition, connecting roads within the boundaries of the aforementioned main thoroughfares will also be affected. Typical examples include roads such as Le Duan, Nguyen Van Chiem, Le Quy Don, Huyen Tran Cong Chua, Le Van Huu, Han Thuyen, Alexandre De Rhodes, Cong Xa Paris, Dang Tran Con, Thu Khoa Huan, Nguyen Trung Truc, Dong Khoi, Nguyen Du (section from Ton Duc Thang Street to the intersection with Cach Mang Thang 8 Street), and Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street (section from Nguyen Binh Khiem Street to the intersection with Cach Mang Thang 8 Street). This traffic adjustment aims to create a safe and unobstructed space for parades, processions, and other important ceremonies.
Specifically, on the official anniversary day, April 30, 2025, a strict ban on vehicle traffic and parking will be enforced from 3 AM to 12 PM. This is the period when the main activities of the ceremony take place, requiring the highest level of security and order.
Due to limited parking in the restricted area, people are advised to use buses or the metro (Ba Son, City Theatre, and Ben Thanh stations) for transportation.
According to a notice from the PC08 Department, within the restricted area, only individuals and organizations needing to travel on foot to their homes or hotels, or staff members needing to travel for urgent work at agencies and units, are permitted to move along the designated routes. To be allowed to move within the restricted area, residents must present valid identification documents such as a citizen's identity card or passport to prove the purpose of their travel. If necessary, residents can contact the local police station in charge of their residential area for assistance and guidance on how to enter the restricted security area under the direction of the security forces.
People can watch the parade on 21 LED screens along central streets (Le Duan, Nam Ky Khoi Nghia, Nguyen Hue, etc.) or on VTV1 and VOV1.
However, it should be noted that private vehicles will not be allowed into the area where security measures have been established. Therefore, people need to proactively arrange parking outside before the authorities set up barriers to control people and vehicles.
The City's Department of Transportation and Public Works also specifically reminds all drivers to strictly comply with the instructions of the Traffic Police and traffic controllers, as well as to absolutely adhere to the traffic signaling system on the road. The cooperation and compliance of the people will significantly contribute to ensuring traffic safety and the success of the activities commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country.
