Recently, InterNations announced its list of the 30 best cities to live, work, and make friends in 2020. This list is the result of a survey of 20,000 people who voted and ranked the cities.

In this list, Ho Chi Minh City surpassed Singapore to rank 3rd, right after Taipei (Taiwan, China) and Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia).
InterNations rankings
From fourth place last year, Ho Chi Minh City rose to third place thanks to its relatively low cost of living. Most respondents noted the ease of finding rental housing and the friendliness of the people. However, some complained about the environmental quality, citing dirty streets and poor waste management. Traffic was also a source of dissatisfaction for expatriates living there.
Ho Chi Minh City has a diverse housing market and an affordable cost of living.
Leading the ranking is Taipei (Taiwan, China), known for its low cost of living and diverse cuisine. Second on the list of best places to live, Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) is highly rated for its food, unique local culture, and ease of communication with English speakers. The cost of living is also considered reasonable, and foreigners can easily travel throughout Asia from Malaysia. Singapore dropped to fourth place this year due to its high housing costs.
Taipei City, Taiwan
Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia.
This survey, which included over 20,000 people, not only assessed the country they resided in but also shared insights into cities from various perspectives. There are 25 different aspects of urban life abroad, rated on a scale of one to seven.
