Radisson Blu Phu Quoc builds the first bamboo farm in Vietnam.

Radisson Blu Phu Quoc is utilizing the green space near the sea for bamboo planting, making it the first resort belonging to an international corporation in Vietnam to implement this initiative, aiming to enhance environmental protection responsibility towards the community.
Following the success of the resort's environmental initiatives under the "BLU GOES GREEN" project, such as using electric vehicles and reusing soap for local residents, the resort's General Manager, Mr. Marko Janssen, decided to transform a plot of land within the resort grounds into the first bamboo plantation in Phu Quoc.
“We have said no to the use of plastic straws since the very first days of opening in August 2018,” said Mr. Marko. “As you know, environmental issues in Phu Quoc are currently receiving attention, and moreover, there is a need for thorough action to better protect the environment; here we use bamboo straws for our guests. We will be the first international standard resort to have a bamboo farm and harvest bamboo to make straws.”
The resort collaborated with the local company Bamboo Step on this project. This company has many years of experience researching, cultivating bamboo, and making bamboo straws in Phu Quoc. The bamboo planting area initially covered 4 square meters with 50 bamboo beds. After one year of development, the area is estimated to double, yielding between 700 and 1,000 bamboo straws.
Additionally, guests staying at the resort have the opportunity to participate in activities such as making bamboo straws and can purchase them as souvenirs.
