Vibrant nature at Flower Home farm

Flower Home is a farm established over 30 years ago, located in Zhuolan, Miaoli County. This farm grows many beautiful Taiwanese flowers. Visitors often choose it as a place to take記念 photos. Every corner of the farm is designed and decorated with flowers and plants. Early in the morning, visitors are greeted by the beauty of nature as soon as they arrive at the entrance; the small wooden hut is almost completely covered in flowers.

Besides the vast fields of vibrant purple lavender, the farm also features a rose garden, a herb garden, and greenhouses for growing aquatic plants. Here, special dishes prepared with organic ingredients and herbs are also incredibly unique and delicious.

Founder Chen Ji-neng has been passionate about flowers and plants since childhood. He studied Chinese medicine and the preparation of medicinal herbs to establish Aroma Boutique, one of the largest essential oil shops in Taiwan. Their lemongrass and camphor essential oils are particularly popular with customers.

Experience the Hakka indigo dyeing culture.

Zhuo Ye Resort, located in Miaoli County, Taiwan, was established in 2004 by a married couple, both holding master's degrees in agriculture. This resort, combining relaxation and experience, offers a peaceful respite from the hustle and bustle of urban life. It's a wonderful destination for those who want to experience rural life and explore traditional Hakka culture.

Initially, the founders purchased this long-abandoned 0.7-hectare plot of land to fulfill the husband's childhood dream of creating a traditional Taiwanese-style "village." With red lanterns hanging outside the thatched houses and spring couplets pasted on the doors, visitors feel like they've stepped into a rustic countryside village as they stroll along the main alleyway of the complex. The traditional houses here are also diverse, featuring many unique shapes, thatched roofs, and wood paneling.

Besides its classic rural houses, Zhou Ye is also famous for its Hakka vegetarian cuisine and for participating in indigo dyeing activities with the locals, listening to their stories about this unique dyeing technique. This is the indigo dyeing culture of the Hakka people, who migrated to Taiwan long ago. The indigo dye is made entirely from plant leaves, preventing the fabric from becoming stiff and causing discomfort, and also deterring insects. During dyeing, a technique of folding and tying tightly is used to cover the white areas, while the rest is dipped into the dye solution to create a blue color.

To promote the fading indigo dyeing culture, the founder not only established a pattern-painting workshop in 2015 but also cultivated indigo dyeing materials on the farm. Furthermore, the estate has invited indigo artisans, craftspeople, and designers to join. Together, they have created an innovative business model for the sustainable development of traditional Hakka culture.

Combining agriculture and handicrafts, Zhuo Ye Cottage is a prime example of Taiwan's emerging tourism industry. Its indigo-dyed products have won several international awards since 2014. Visitors to Taiwan shouldn't miss this destination.
