On September 10, two exhibitions, "Long Lasting Dreams" and "Inside the City", officially opened at the Vincom Center for Contemporary Art (VCCA), introducing to the public 21 outstanding paintings by artists Bui Quoc Khanh and Doan Xuan Tung, two of the notable faces of the 8X generation of Vietnamese fine arts. These two parallel independent exhibitions are part of the Program to accompany and support young Vietnamese artists - "Incubating talented young artists VCCA 2019".

Exhibition “Long Lasting Dreams” Introducing to the public the latest works of artist Bui Quoc Khanh. Bui Quoc Khanh's paintings use the visual language of Pop-art style and graphic sounds, presenting a colorful space. Bold and strong colors, overlapping each other, dense with metaphorical images of popular culture from ancient to modern, from East to West. The motifs, images of royalty, splendor, full of materialism are displayed in a cluttered, ostentatious manner, expressing the artist's humorous satirical view of today's society.

These are the reflections of artist Bui Quoc Khanh himself on the problems and evils that still exist and overlap in the context of Vietnamese society. “All of these things together become a dream that lasts forever and never ends,” he shared.
Along with “Long Lasting Dreams” is the first solo exhibition of artist Doan Xuan Tung titled “Inside the City”. The exhibition features 12 works in acrylic and newspaper collage on canvas.
The work "High Point" by artist Doan Xuan Tung is expressed in acrylic and newspaper collage on canvas.
The series of works focuses on two main lines: on the one hand, it focuses on the daily stories of migrant workers; on the other hand, it depicts the lives of the emerging middle class - enjoying the conveniences of new residential areas, forming two contrasting but inseparable realities of urban life. In particular, the newspaper material is intentionally incorporated into 12 paintings, both ensuring the aesthetics of the work and expressing the author's concern for current issues.
Taking place at the same time at VCCA, the two exhibitions “Inside the City” by Doan Xuan Tung and “Long Lasting Dreams” by Bui Quoc Khanh are an interesting dialogue between two artists whose personalities, although somewhat different, share the same way of exploiting the expressive language of Pop-art as well as concerns about contemporary social issues.

In addition, the unique architectural space of VCCA is delicately processed to create visual highlights for viewers. Audiences can enjoy large-scale, colorful paintings at a reasonable distance, while the natural light from VCCA's skylight shining on the painting surface will be able to create impressive interactions.
