The exhibition "Mai Trung Thu - Echoes of a Dreamy Vietnam" displays 140 works at the Ursulines Museum (Paris, France) from June 16 to October 24.
Most of the works have never been shown to the public before, including: oil paintings on canvas, silk paintings, photographs and lithographs. The representative of the Organizing Committee introduced on the website: "The exhibition is an opportunity to discover a personal style imbued with poetry, with lines and colors inspired by traditional Vietnamese life and culture."

The exhibition was organized by the Ursulines Museum in collaboration with the Cernuschi Museum, which specializes in Asian art in Paris. Mai Lam Phuong, daughter of Mai Trung Thu, was the consultant and supporter of the exhibition. According to the Macon media agency, the exhibition was recognized by the French Ministry of Culture as having national significance.

Art researcher Ngo Kim Khoi said he received an invitation from the Museum but was unable to attend due to the pandemic. According to him, the event is an opportunity for visitors to admire Indochina paintings to learn more about Mai Trung Thu. The Cernuschi Museum - the organizer - is one of two prestigious museums in Paris specializing in Asian art. "The exhibition honors a great painter of Indochina Fine Arts, whose work recently set a record for Vietnamese paintings at auction," said Mr. Khoi.
The work "Calligraphy".
During his lifetime, the artist held three solo exhibitions: Mai Thu's Children (1964), Mai Thu's Women in the Eyes of Mai Thu (1967), and Mai Thu's Poetic World (1980). In recent years, his paintings have appeared in several joint exhibitions of Vietnamese art. In April, Mai Trung Thu's Portrait of Mademoiselle Phuong fetched $3.1 million at the "Beyond Legends: Modern Art Evening Sale" auction at Sotheby's.
