French crystal brand LALIQUE recently pleased Vietnamese collectors by organizing an exhibition of two iconic collections of the brand, including a collection combining LALIQUE with the legacy of artist René Magritte, alongside artifacts from the Iconics Rose Nebula collection.
Under the vision of the Magritte Foundation, the mysterious and poetic world of René Magritte is recreated in crystal sculptures, displayed to the public on the occasion of the 126th anniversary of the late artist's birth.
The legacy of the “two Renés”
Although René Magritte and René LALIQUE never met in person, they were artistically aligned. René LALIQUE was a daring innovator who expressed his aesthetic self through crystal; while Magritte invented his own artistic language through surrealist works, along with other poets and musicians. Their artistic personalities were unlike any other, which led to both Renés being recognized as the greatest artists of the 20th century.
Although René Magritte and René LALIQUE never had the chance to meet in real life, in art they were on the same page.
To date, the bowler hat is the only work by Magritte that exists as both a painting and an object, and LALIQUE's recreation of it in natural crystal mimics the very process by which Magritte created his most famous work.
Le Bain de Cristal is a deer in a glass made of one piece of lost-wax crystal, allowing the satin-brushed finish to blend with the clear crystal pieces.
Their prominence and iconicity caught the creative eye of LALIQUE, to be reborn on crystal slabs.
Iconics Rose Nebula: Nebula Pink
Constantly pushing the boundaries of creativity and craftsmanship, LALIQUE breaks aesthetic standards with a new crystal shade: Rose Nebula. The name of the collection evokes the feeling of being as fleeting and fragile as the dust of a cosmic nebula, as well as the special pink shade created by the experienced expertise of artisans.
The name "Rose Nebula" evokes the haziness surrounding the long-lasting pink coating process, which gives the crystal surface a mystical, space-age-like hue.
Finishing luxury crystal creations under the supervision of master artisans, the misty, shimmering layer covering the crystal is mixed with many metals (including gold), to create a unique, seductive pink color.
All are in a mystical pink hue, supervised to perfection under the discerning eyes of master crystal craftsmen.
The two collections are currently on display and open to the public free of charge at Tam Son Living Boutique at 17 Trang Tien, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi. Tam Son Living is the first store in the world to bring together three pioneering brands in the luxury lifestyle: LALIQUE, Bernardaud and Christofle.
