Painting exhibition 'Nguyen Dynasty II' at Craig Thomas Gallery

A solo exhibition of oil and lacquer paintings on wood by artist Tran Minh Tam will take place at Craig Thomas Gallery (CTG) Tran Nhat Duat.

A unique opportunity to visit the gallery of contemporary artist Tran Minh Tam and discover the extraordinary life of Vietnam's last ruling dynasty.

Craig Thomas Gallery and Sophie's Art Tour will host a presentation of Saigon-based artist Tran Minh Tam and his latest collection of oil and lacquer woodblock prints depicting Vietnam's last dynasty.

This is a rare and exclusive opportunity to gain a deeper and more practical insight into the artist Tran Minh Tam, and through the art exhibition, visitors will be invited by him into the fascinating and turbulent life of the Nguyen Dynasty.

The Nguyen Dynasty ruled Vietnam from 1802 to 1945, their lives and the magical inner worlds they inhabited surrounded by legend, myth and mystery, will be revealed through the works of artist Tran Minh Tam.

The tour will begin at the Nguyen Dynasty II exhibition at Craig Thomas Gallery. Participants will be invited to travel through time to meet some of the era’s most famous figures, including the last emperor, Bao Dai, Empress Nam Phuong, Emperor Gia Long, who founded Saigon as a military stronghold, and Emperor Duy Tan, the dynasty’s ruler.

After viewing the collection, the tour continues with the artist, Tran Minh Tam, in his studio where he created the House of Nguyen series. There will be an opportunity to ask questions and learn more about his artistic process. Leaving the artist’s studio, you will return to the Craig Thomas Gallery.
