Following the success of a similar event held in Hanoi in 2017, this year the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) is bringing its Culture and Tourism Exhibition to Ho Chi Minh City. Taking place over two days, September 28th and 29th, this program aims to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of relations between Korea and ASEAN, as well as to promote Korean culture and tourism to markets in the southern region, especially markets with high annual tourist growth rates like Vietnam.
KTO successfully organized the Korea Days In Hanoi event in 2017, and the upcoming exhibition on Nguyen Hue pedestrian street promises to continue that success.
The exhibition will be held in the Nguyen Hue pedestrian street area – a familiar and popular destination for both locals and foreign tourists visiting Ho Chi Minh City. With approximately 30 booths and various themes such as Korean style (K-Style), Korean tourism (K-Tour), and Korean culture (K-Culture)..., the event will also feature diverse experiential activities such as trying on Hanbok, making decorations for free, and participating in quizzes with lucky prizes.
The highlight of this event is the promotion of the Korean Wave (Hallyu). Spectacular artistic performances from both countries will take place continuously over two days at the main event stage. The opening ceremony will feature two popular idol groups, G-Friend and Snuper, while Vietnam will be represented by singer Noo Phuoc Thinh, who previously won the Best Asian Artist award at the Mnet Asia Music Awards (MAMA).
The group G-Friend sends greetings to their Vietnamese fans.
On the second day of the event, KTO, in collaboration with CJ E&M Vietnam, held a red carpet premiere for the film "My Brother, the Monster." Starring actor Kieu Minh Tuan and singer-actor Issac, this is a remake of the popular Korean film "Hyung." This blockbuster was a success thanks to the excellent chemistry between actor Jo Jung Suk, DO - a member of the K-pop group EXO, and actress Park Shin Hye.
In addition to the main activities, the K-Pop Audition program, a selection of Korean trainees, will also be held, promising to deliver incredibly vibrant and captivating performances.
Alongside this event, KTO will also organize a conference of KTO Chief Representatives from six Southeast Asian countries, focusing primarily on discussing market diversification policies with a particular emphasis on the region's tourism market.
From the perspective of visitor growth rate, in 2018, South Korea welcomed over 460,000 Vietnamese tourists, an increase of over 30% compared to 2017. And as of September this year, the number of Vietnamese tourists visiting South Korea is expected to reach over 409,000, an increase of nearly 25% compared to the same period in 2018, and is projected to reach over 585,000 by the end of 2019.
