In the solemn and heroic atmosphere of the historic April days, the whole of Vietnam turned to Ho Chi Minh City, where the heart of the Fatherland beats enthusiastically to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country. This important event was solemnly held with a national celebration, parade, and march, officially opening at 6:25 am on April 30 today.
Since the previous days, preparations for this historic event have been carried out meticulously and thoughtfully. In particular, in the sky, the "iron birds" of the Vietnam People's Air Force have undergone rigorous training, with the dedication and intelligence of elite pilots and technicians.
Urgent working atmosphere at Bien Hoa Military Airport

Each control movement, each flight formation is honed to perfection, demonstrating the skillful technique and iron discipline of the "Uncle Ho's soldiers" in the air. In the heart of each officer and soldier, there is always a burning determination, dedicating themselves to this performance with deep pride, a strong affirmation of the strength and bravery of the Vietnam People's Army before all compatriots and international friends.
The helicopter squadron consisted of 10 aircraft, divided into 3 groups flying in a 3-4-3 formation. Immediately after, 10 SU30-Mk2 fighters also took off from Bien Hoa airport.
Previously on April 27, the parade formation had an impressive performance in the sky, revealing the special images that will take place on the official day. The heroic formation included 10 helicopters, 7 modern Su-30MK2 fighters and 6 Yak-130 training aircraft, organized into three squadrons with a beautiful and scientific 3-4-3 formation.
"Splitting the sky" of Ho Chi Minh City with fighter jets
At 7:40 a.m., the first squadron of 10 majestic helicopters took off from Bien Hoa airport, forming a beautiful and solemn 3-4-3 formation, towing the flag of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the flag of the Vietnamese Fatherland fluttering in the wind. The helicopters entered the central airspace of Ho Chi Minh City, flying across the solemn stage in front of the Reunification Hall, where 50 years ago witnessed the historic moment when the liberation flag fluttered on the roof of the Independence Palace, marking the complete victory of the historic Ho Chi Minh campaign. Following closely behind were two squadrons of Yak-130 training aircraft, the agile and modern "silver swallows", creating a majestic and impressive flying formation.

Right after the helicopter squadron, 10 Su-30MK2 fighters, the powerful "steel arrows" of the Vietnam People's Air Force, also took off simultaneously from Bien Hoa airport. With powerful jet engines, the modern fighters glided across the blue sky, carrying the pride and heroic spirit of an increasingly powerful army.
In the golden morning sunlight, the red flags with yellow stars and the Party flag fluttered in the wind like sacred flames, touching the hearts of thousands of people watching on the streets and squares of the city. In that moment, every Vietnamese person deeply felt the value of peace, independence and freedom that many generations of fathers and brothers had fought and sacrificed their blood to regain.

The sound of the helicopters' engines was not the fear of war, but instead joy, excitement and a strong belief in the strength of the nation. It was a miraculous change, a testament to the revival and development of the country after years of pain. In that historic moment, each person had their own separate emotions, but all converged in the eyes shining with pride for the Fatherland and the heroic Vietnam People's Army.

Looking back 50 years ago, in the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, the "Determined to Win Squadron" bravely attacked the last lair of the Saigon puppet regime, contributing decisively to the complete victory of the resistance war against the US to save the country, liberate the South, and unify the country. Half a century later, the modern "steel birds" are flying proudly in the peaceful sky, without the sound of artillery shells or gunfire, but instead are the sounds of joy, pride and hope for a bright, prosperous future of Vietnam. The performance of the Vietnam People's Air Force is a strong affirmation of the strength to protect the Fatherland, and at the same time a deep gratitude to those who fell for the independence and freedom of the nation.
