The wild beauty of Con Au on Hau River

Located in Hung Loi ward, Cai Rang district (Can Tho), Con Au is considered the most beautiful among the islets along the Hau river. The name Con Au comes from the way the people living here call it. In the past, when they moved to the islet to live, they saw a lot of caltrop trees so they named it Con Au. Later, when reclaiming land to plant fruit trees, caltrop trees also gradually disappeared.

Con Au has an area of ​​130 hectares, a place where many typical features of the Mekong Delta converge. From afar, this place has a pristine and pristine look when surrounded by vast mangrove forests, surrounded by immense rivers on all four sides. Mangroves grow and develop very quickly, so it can be considered a typical tree when referring to Con Au.

Inside the island, a green space appears with hundreds of fruit trees and vegetable gardens of households. The small roads are shaded by coconut trees, the heavy clusters of mangoes and plums close to the head make visitors excited, wanting to reach out and pick a fruit to enjoy.

About 70 households live on Con Au, mainly engaged in gardening. Families without land often go to the market to trade, so the space on the island is very quiet and deserted. Almost every house here is covered by a green color of fruit trees and gardens from the alley to the back of the house.

Mornings in Con Au start quite early when people wake up to harvest vegetables and fruits to bring to Can Tho market to sell. Not bustling, a morning on Con Au, people just hang around with that much work, then take a boat to the market and do not return until late afternoon.

About 30 hectares at the beginning of Con Au are currently being built into Phu Sa eco-tourism area. This place exploits the potential of land and green trees, and is also an ideal place for those who like weekend picnics or outdoor photography.

Wandering through the mangrove gardens, visitors can take a boat and play the role of a simple, rustic fisherman. The ripe mangrove fruits will be processed by restaurant staff into special dishes such as mangrove sour soup or mangrove perch.

The tourist area here has a 1-hectare crocodile pond. Visitors can fish for crocodiles for fun. In addition, you can also relax in the natural swimming pool located along the Hau River. Games such as canoeing, windsurfing, canoeing, and parasailing on the Hau River are also provided for visitors.
