This year's National Day holiday on September 2nd, lasting four days, is creating an unprecedented surge in airfare, especially for flights to Hanoi. With the capital city set to be the focal point of the celebrations, parades, and marches commemorating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2nd, 2025), travel demand has skyrocketed, driving ticket prices to record highs and putting considerable pressure on travelers' budgets.
According to Plan No. 173 recently issued by the Hanoi People's Committee, the solemn commemoration ceremony will take place at 6:30 AM on September 2nd at Ba Dinh Square and several central streets. This national-level event, combined with the long holiday, has turned Hanoi into the hottest destination during the holiday, attracting a large number of people from all over to participate and immerse themselves in the historical atmosphere.

From the beginning of July, online booking platforms have recorded a surge in searches for flights to Noi Bai Airport (Hanoi) and Cat Bi Airport (Hai Phong). Specifically, surveys show that airfares for the Ho Chi Minh City – Hanoi route on peak days, August 31st and September 1st, have increased sharply.
Currently, economy class (Eco) tickets on budget airlines like Vietjet Air and Vietravel Airlines range from 1 million to 1.4 million VND per flight (excluding taxes and fees), with some peak-hour flights potentially reaching nearly 2.9 million VND per flight. For traditional airlines like Vietnam Airlines and Bamboo Airways, economy class tickets have climbed to 2.5 million to 3.5 million VND per flight, while the most expensive business class tickets have even reached 8.7 million VND per flight.
On various platforms, airline ticket prices have been rising steadily due to high demand from the public.
The total cost for a round-trip flight between Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi during the September 2nd holiday can range from 5 million to 7.5 million VND for economy class tickets, depending on the airline and chosen time slot. Booking tickets close to the holiday significantly increases the risk of tickets selling out and prices being pushed even higher due to limited supply.
According to ticket agents, this price increase is considered appropriate given the general price level during the peak tourist season, especially for short flights or those operated by multiple airlines.
In addition, employees are entitled to up to 4 days off, facilitating the arrangement of travel schedules, visits to their hometowns, or participation in national historical events.
Amidst the surge in travel demand and the dramatic increase in people searching for airline tickets on social media platforms, scammers have taken advantage of this opportunity to employ sophisticated tactics. Numerous cases have resulted in passengers losing money and suffering other consequences, seriously impacting their work, personal plans, and family life.
To protect themselves and optimize costs, industry experts and authorities recommend that passengers be extremely vigilant and adhere to regulations. To avoid ticket shortages and price increases during holidays, passengers should book tickets early and always monitor promotional information through the official channels of airlines or authorized agents.
To ensure safety, tourists need to be especially cautious of scams.
In particular, be extremely wary of unusually cheap advertisements on social media, as these are often signs of scams; absolutely do not transfer money in advance or provide OTP codes, bank account information, or photos of your citizen identification card to strangers. If you detect any suspicious signs, immediately call the airline's hotline to verify your booking information. If you are unfortunately scammed, report it immediately to the nearest police station or call 113 for prompt assistance.
