Vietravel Airlines is based in Thua Thien - Hue.

13/06/2019

On June 11th, at the headquarters of the Thua Thien Hue Provincial People's Committee, Vietravel submitted the application for the establishment of Vietravel Airlines, a Vietnamese travel and tourism airline, with an investment of approximately 1,000 billion VND, 100% owned by Vietravel Tourism Company. The airline has chosen Phu Bai Airport (Thua Thien Hue) as its base.

Choosing Phu Bai International Airport as a base will help Vietravel Airlines redirect tourists from the Dong Hoi-Hue-Da Nang-Hoi An region through Phu Bai International Airport, while simultaneously reducing the burden on the current Da Nang International Airport.

Vietravel Airlines was established in 2018 and has taken steps to prepare for its first flight, scheduled for January 1, 2020. According to the procedure, upon receiving the application, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, along with other ministries and agencies, will appraise it. If approved, the application will be submitted to the Prime Minister for investment approval. Afterward, the company will submit the application to the Ministry of Transport for flight licensing.

Vietravel Airlines has chosen to establish its base at Phu Bai International Airport in Thua Thien Hue province.

Besides choosing Phu Bai Airport as its base, Vietravel Airlines also collaborates with foreign partners to open training schools for flight attendants and ground service staff. Mr. Nguyen Quoc Ky, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietravel Airlines Co., Ltd., and also the General Director of Vietravel Tourism Company, shared: “Vietravel Airlines has a market advantage when operating charter flights. In 2018 alone, Vietravel Tourism chartered more than 300 flights, each with 180-200 seats, to take tourists both domestically and internationally. Vietravel Airlines plans to operate charter flights from its main gateway, Phu Bai International Airport (Thua Thien Hue), to domestic and international tourist destinations within the first three years. Vietravel Airlines will lease Airbus 321 aircraft (including pilots and flight attendants) to provide this service.”

According to Mr. Vu Duc Bien, Director of Vietravel Airlines, Hue is a tourist transit point for Vietravel between the Dong Hoi – Hue – Da Nang – Hoi An areas. In 2017, this region welcomed 17.9 million tourists and accounted for 37% of Vietravel's domestic tourist destinations. According to the plan, by 2020, Vietravel Airlines will receive 20 aircraft and transport 5 million passengers per year.

Currently, Vietnam has five airlines: Vietnam Airlines, VietJet Air, Jetstar Pacific Airlines, Vasco, and Bamboo Airways.
