The 10 intangible cultural heritage items included in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage list this time are:
- Bac Ha Horse Racing Festival (Bac Ha District, Lao Cai Province)
- The art of decoration on the costumes of the Nung Din people (Muong Khuong district, Lao Cai province)
- Decorative art on the traditional clothing of the Hmong Hoa people (Bac Ha district, Lao Cai province)
- The Five Villages Festival (Nhan Chinh ward, Thanh Xuan district and Trung Van ward, Nam Tu Liem district, Hanoi)
- The Phu My - Kieu Mai inter-village festival (My Dinh 2 ward, Nam Tu Liem district and Phuc Dien ward, Bac Tu Liem district, Hanoi)
- Nhuong Ban Fishing Festival (Cam Nhuong commune, Cam Xuyen district, Ha Tinh province)
- Phu Quoc fish sauce making craft (Duong Dong ward, An Thoi ward, Phu Quoc city, Kien Giang province)
- The "Ét đông" ceremony of the Giơ Lâng (Ba Na) group (Kon Rẫy district, Kon Tum province)
- Dai Dong Commune Festival (Vinh Tuong District, Vinh Phuc Province)
- Thanh Ha embroidery craft (Thanh Ha commune, Thanh Liem district, Ha Nam province)
Nhuong Ban Fishing Festival (Ha Tinh)
Among them, the Bac Ha Horse Racing Festival (Bac Ha district, Lao Cai province) is one of the unique festivals of the Northwest region, a highlight that attracts tourists to Bac Ha.
Historically, the Bac Ha horse race was usually held in the spring on a regional scale. In 1975, Bac Ha organized a parade with over 200 horses throughout the central area to celebrate the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country.
Bac Ha Horse Racing Festival (Lao Cai)
In the spring of 1980, the Bac Ha District Military Command organized a horse racing and shooting competition to select skilled riders and shooters to join the militia transporting food supplies by road. After that, Bac Ha did not organize any more competitions.
In 2007, the traditional Bac Ha horse race was officially revived. Since then, it has become an annual festival of Bac Ha district, held once a year, meeting the cultural and spiritual needs of the people, contributing to the preservation and promotion of the unique cultural and sporting traditions of the ethnic groups in Bac Ha; and promoting the image of the people and tourism of Bac Ha to domestic and international visitors.
The traditional craft of making fish sauce in Phu Quoc (Kien Giang province) has been recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage.
According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the heritage items inscribed in this round belong to the categories of traditional crafts, traditional festivals, social customs and beliefs, and folk knowledge.
The Chairpersons of the People's Committees at all levels in localities where intangible cultural heritage is included in this National Intangible Cultural Heritage list shall, within their duties and powers, exercise state management in accordance with the law on cultural heritage.
