Despite the difficulties caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, this year, Vietnamese tourism was still named in more than 30 categories of the 28th World Travel Awards in the Asia Pacific region. Most recently, the World Cruise Awards of this system continued to recognize Vietnam as "Asia's Best River Cruise Destination in 2021".
After a year of scouring the world of cruise ship excellence, the World Cruise Awards have finally announced their 2021 winners. Voting was conducted by respected industry experts and the public, with each award going to the nominee with the most votes in its respective category.
Winning the category “Asia’s Best River Cruise Destination 2021”, Vietnam surpassed candidates including Cambodia, China, Laos and Thailand.

In October, the World Travel Awards also awarded two prestigious awards, "Asia's Leading Destination" and "Asia's Leading Sustainable Tourism Destination 2021" to Vietnam. At the World Golf Awards, Vietnam also received the award "World's Best Golf Destination 2021". Notably, this is the second time since 2017 that the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism has been honored by the World Travel Awards as Asia's Leading Tourism Management Agency in 2021.
This year, winning the World Travel Awards – considered the Oscars of the tourism industry – is more important than ever, as global tourism gradually recovers from the pandemic and borders are opening. At that time, influential awards will be one of the selection criteria for international tourists to return to Vietnam.
