Plastic bottles were cut into tulip shapes and painted in various colors such as red, yellow, pink, and blue; some bottles were buried in sand and cement to create pathways around the garden.

"Plastic bottles form huge mountains of trash in Lamitan, and turning them into a tourist attraction could help address the plastic waste pollution problem to some extent," said Lamitan Mayor Rose Furigay.

This flower garden opened on September 23rd and has attracted the attention of many visitors.

It is known that the Philippines has always been a major contributor to plastic waste in the ocean, with only a small fraction of it being recycled.
