In recent years, tourists have tended to look for alternative accommodation types to the traditional hotel model. In Vietnam, this trend is reflected in the fact that 4 out of 5 most awarded accommodation types in 2024 are unique accommodation types. While hotels are still the most awarded accommodation type in 2024, they are followed by rental apartments, homestays, aparthotels - luxury resort apartments and finally motels. The diversity and popularity of accommodation options besides traditional hotels in recent years in Vietnam has shown that tourists are increasingly appreciating the diversity of accommodation types as well as the unique hospitality that suppliers bring.
Factors that make Vietnam the friendliest destination in 2024
Destinations are sorted by the total number of Traveller Review Award 2024 recipients compared to the total number of eligible accommodations in that city or region (accommodations only). Destinations also needed to have an above-average number of award winners to be included (200 or more depending on the city and region) and were selected to ensure geographic distribution.
