Mr. Li ZiChao, along with his father Li Zing (China), are the only two foreigners to have been infected with Covid-19 in Vietnam. After nearly a month of quarantine and treatment at Cho Ray Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, on February 12, 2020, both father and son were discharged from the hospital with positive results for Covid-19.
Notably, before returning home, Li ZiChao wrote a letter on behalf of his father to the doctors of Cho Ray Hospital to express his gratitude.
"[...] Our family truly feels sorry that our coming here has caused you trouble. We are very sorry! [...] We will remember from the bottom of our hearts the professionalism and kindness of the doctors in treating us - especially the doctor who gave my father an extra 10 days of medication when he was no longer in the hospital. That act of concern and kind care touched us very much.
[...]In a strange city, we could not find fruits, suitable food or other gifts to give back to the dear doctors and nurses who had taken care of us. We felt ashamed and guilty towards all the doctors and nurses because we considered them as friends, people to whom we had to give something in return. Although we left this place with regret, we still remember your kindness deeply [...]"- excerpt from Li ZiChao's letter written in English.
