On November 28-29, the People's Committee of Tri Ton district, An Giang province, in coordination with the Hanoi Paragliding Association, organized a paragliding demonstration over the picturesque rice paddies of Ta Pa at the foot of Tri Ton mountain, themed "Flying over Phuong Hoang Son," to attract tourists.

Over 90 pilots from paragliding clubs across Vietnam, including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Quang Ninh, and Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa), participated in a paragliding demonstration in An Giang. The pilots took off from the Vo Hoi "airfield," located approximately 350 meters above sea level on Co To mountain (Phung Hoang Son). After a spectacular flight over the golden rice fields and characteristic palm trees of the Bay Nui region, the pilots landed at the bull racing arena (Ho Soai Chek Tourist Area), providing an exciting experience for the spectators.




According to Mr. Tran Minh Giang, Vice Chairman of the Tri Ton District People's Committee, this is the first time the locality has coordinated with the Hanoi Paragliding Association to organize a performance. "With the desire to introduce paragliding pilots from all over the country to the new flying spot at Phuong Hoang Son; and also to promote the destination, contributing to diversifying unique and competitive tourism types to attract tourists," Mr. Giang said.

According to data from the Tri Ton District Center for Culture, Sports and Tourism, in the first 11 months of 2020, the locality welcomed and served approximately 366,000 visitors. Of these, about 219,000 visited the Ba Chuc Mausoleum historical site; over 42,000 visited the Tuc Dup historical site; and over 54,000 visited Ta Pa...



According to Mr. Chau Vuth Thi, Deputy Director of the Center, the locality aims to welcome and serve approximately 800,000 to 1 million tourists by 2025.
In its socio-economic development plan for the period 2020-2025, this locality will promote investment attraction in the tourism sector, focusing on eco-tourism, spiritual tourism, cultural tourism, and historical tourism, combined with sports such as bull racing, paragliding, and off-road racing.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Nam, a member of the Hanoi Paragliding Association, said: “The hilly terrain of Tri Ton district, An Giang province, with Co To mountain over 600 meters above sea level, is very suitable for developing paragliding for the entire Western region. The scenery here is very beautiful, so it is possible to invest in developing this activity on a regular basis to become a new tourist highlight for the Bay Nui region.”

Alongside the paragliding activities, to promote the image and tourism of the locality during this event, the People's Committee of Tri Ton district also selected 8 pairs of the best racing oxen in the area to participate in the Bay Nui ox racing performance, recreating for the audience and tourists the characteristic sport of the Khmer ethnic minority in this region. According to Mr. Tran Minh Giang, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tri Ton district, all of these activities are free of charge for the people and tourists.
