AccorHotels appoints new General Manager for 2 resorts in Phu Quoc.

Mr. Axel Harmand has officially taken over the position of General Manager for two new resorts: Premier Village Phu Quoc Resort – featuring 217 luxurious villas with private pools nestled at Mui Ong Doi (Ong Doi Cape) and Premier Residences Phu Quoc Emerald Bay – comprising 745 modern condotel units at Bai Khem (Khem Beach). Although both resorts only launched in 2018, they have already gained considerable recognition among tourists through numerous successful marketing campaigns.

Before returning to Vietnam to take on this position, Mr. Axel Harmand had extensive experience in the hospitality industry in many countries such as China (Shenzhen, Shanghai, Beijing), Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur), Laos (Vientiane) and at many famous hotels and resorts such as Hilton, Marco Polo, Sofitel, Sheraton, Langham, and most recently the Kempinski hotel brand.

Upon his first visit to Phu Quoc Island, Vietnam, Mr. Axel Harmand stated: “Vietnam is not only an attractive destination for me as a tourist, but also a challenging one from the perspective of a hotel operator and manager. I am confident that Phu Quoc, along with the economic potential of the region, will offer visitors a truly enjoyable and refreshing experience.”

Axel Harmand's career path has been diverse, spanning nearly 40 years of dedicated effort. In 1985, he began as an intern at a 3-Michelin-star restaurant in France. He then rose to become Executive Chef at a 1-Michelin-star restaurant after working at over 8 Michelin-starred establishments, before becoming Director of Banquets at the 5-star Novotel Peace Beijing. His career continued to flourish with a series of senior management positions at major hotel brands, including Vice President of Hotel Management, Director of Business Development, and his current position as General Manager. This has given him extensive knowledge of diverse markets and a professional international hotel management background. Born in France, his multinational career path has provided him with diverse management experience across many countries and cultures worldwide. Besides English, his primary language of communication, he can also speak basic Spanish, German, Chinese, Lao, and Malay.

In addition to appointing a new General Manager, both resorts have also made personnel changes for two other senior management positions: Mr. Daniel-Brian Smith – Manager of Premier Village Phu Quoc Resort and Mr. Karim Meziane – Manager of Premier Residences Phu Quoc Emerald Bay.

In 2019, under the leadership of the new General Manager and his capable team, both resorts promise even more exciting promotions to help visitors discover South Phu Quoc as a frequent and attractive tourist destination. Leading the way in these exciting new initiatives are the themes "Reconnecting with Nature" at Premier Village Phu Quoc Resort and "Discover Your Own Phu Quoc" at Premier Residences Phu Quoc Emerald Bay.
