Accordingly, flight tickets from provinces and cities to Ho Chi Minh City before February 18 have been "sold out" on many routes, or only a very limited number remain.
For example, the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City route currently has only a few tickets left on the Bamboo Airways flight early in the morning of February 17. The remaining days have sold out of economy class tickets and only Vietnam Airlines business class tickets are available at around 10 million VND/ticket/way.
Passengers flying from Hai Phong to Ho Chi Minh City currently have no choice until February 20. The only tickets left for the Vinh - Ho Chi Minh City route on the morning of February 16 on Vietjet Air are 1.6 million VND/way. The remaining tickets for other days are "sold out".
Many flights from provinces and cities to Ho Chi Minh City after Tet have been sold out, with only expensive business class tickets remaining, costing up to 10 million VND/ticket.
The Thanh Hoa - Vinh route also recorded a similar situation. The Da Nang/Tuy Hoa/Quy Nhon - Ho Chi Minh City route was even sold out by February 20. Even those with money could not buy tickets, even business class tickets.
Due to the high cost of airfare, many people have had to change their schedules to return to Ho Chi Minh City. Mr. Nam Giang (29 years old) said he asked his company for permission to work remotely to save on travel costs.
"The ticket price will be reduced 3-4 times if I fly to Ho Chi Minh City 2-3 days later than my work schedule. Changing the schedule also helps me avoid the crowded scene at Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat airports," Giang shared.
According to the survey, after February 20, domestic airfares will cool down and gradually return to normal levels. In particular, ticket prices for the Hanoi/Hai Phong/Vinh/Thanh Hoa/Da Nang - Ho Chi Minh City route will be around 2-3 million VND/way. After that, ticket prices will decrease by about 1 million VND after February 28.
Meanwhile, tourist flights from Hanoi to Da Lat and Phu Quoc are currently "sold out" and show no signs of cooling down until February 20.
On February 14 - the last day of the Lunar New Year holiday before returning to work, the transport volume through Noi Bai airport recorded about 550 flights with nearly 90,000 passengers (both international and domestic).
Noi Bai Airport continues to apply Level 1 security enhancement measures from February 6 until February 16.
During the 7-day Lunar New Year holiday, it is estimated that Noi Bai airport served about 3,500 flights with more than 550,000 passengers arriving and departing safely through Noi Bai airport.
