Dai Yem Waterfall is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the Moc Chau plateau, Son La province, associated with a legend about the love between a young man and woman from the Moc Chau mountains.
The Dai Yem Waterfall, also known as "Nang Waterfall" or "Ban Vat Waterfall," is located in Muong La commune, Moc Chau district, Son La province. The waterfall is named Dai Yem (meaning "Sash Waterfall") because, according to legend, it represents the sash of a girl who saved a young man from a flood.
Yem Waterfall
The waterfall is located about 5 km from the center of Moc Chau district, along National Highway 43 towards Long Sap border gate. Upon reaching the Pa Hang border gate intersection, you can travel by car along the main road or follow the stream for about 4 km to the confluence of two streams, which will lead you to Dai Yem waterfall.
The Dai Yem Waterfall is located on the Vat stream, originating from two streams, Bo Co Lam and Bo Ta Chau, in Vat village – a Thai village with a very long history. The Vat stream flows for about 5km before merging with a larger stream starting from Bo Sap village (on the Vietnam-Laos border). At the confluence of these two streams, the water encounters a limestone mountain and flows down, forming the majestic Dai Yem Waterfall.
The Dai Yem Waterfall is over 100 meters high and divided into two parts. The upper waterfall is over 70 meters wide and has 9 tiers (like the "9 steps of love" in legend), while the lower waterfall has only 5 tiers and is located about 200 meters away. A flat area separates the two parts of the waterfall, making it extremely convenient for tourists to visit and admire the beautiful scenery.
Beneath the Bo Sap stream lie thousands of strangely shaped rocks, and ancient trees so large that it would take more than a person to embrace them, their roots intertwining and blending into the streambed. If you want to explore more, you can climb to the top of the waterfall, where you will admire an incredibly rich vegetation. Furthermore, from here you can gaze out over the entire plateau and majestic mountains and forests.
During the rainy season, when a large amount of water flows from the upstream, with its nine tiers of waterfalls and cascading water, Dai Yem Waterfall is at its most beautiful. For a long time, Dai Yem Waterfall has been a captivating tourist destination in Moc Chau, offering a majestic yet poetic landscape.
May Waterfall in Thanh Hoa
May Waterfall boasts a pristine beauty with clear blue water, making it an attractive tourist destination located in Thach Lam commune, Thach Thanh district, Thanh Hoa province.
May Waterfall is also known as the "Nine Steps of Love" waterfall. According to legend, in ancient times, nine fairies, while wandering the mortal world, accidentally came across a beautiful waterfall. Unable to resist its beauty, the nine fairies descended to bathe in it.
May Waterfall is part of the majestic Northern Truong Son mountain range. Water cascades from a height of approximately 400 meters, divided into nine smaller tiers resembling steps, creating a magnificent, pristine, and wondrous natural landscape that leaves anyone who visits in awe.
The ideal time to visit this place is during the summer, especially from June to August each year. This is when it rains more, the water flows more vigorously, creating a cool, refreshing spray of white foam, perfect for cooling off during the sweltering summer days.
Pongour Waterfall
Pongour Waterfall, also known as the "seven-tiered waterfall" because the water flows over seven layers of rock, is located in Tan Hoi commune, Duc Trong district, about 50km south of Da Lat city center, Lam Dong province.
Pongour Waterfall in Da Lat boasts a breathtaking beauty, like a watercolor painting. Upon arrival, you'll be amazed by the majestic scenery of this waterfall. Besides its stunning beauty, the waterfall is also associated with a little-known legend originating from the K'Ho ethnic minority people of Da Lat.
Long ago, there was a small village here, ruled by a beautiful girl named Kanai. The beautiful chieftain possessed many talents, including hunting and taming wild animals. Therefore, the villagers could live peacefully in the vast forest under her protection. She also raised four large rhinoceroses to assist the villagers in clearing land, cultivating fields, and defending against enemies.
On the full moon day of the first lunar month, the chieftain breathed her last. The four rhinos that had been circling her refused to eat or drink and soon after also died. When the chieftain passed away, her hair turned into a stream of clear white water. And the horns of the four rhinos turned into slabs of stone so they could continue to protect the villagers.
To honor the beautiful village chief who devoted herself to protecting the villagers until her last breath, on the 15th day of the first lunar month, this waterfall annually hosts a spring festival with interesting activities and folk games for visitors to participate in.
Thanks to its pristine and majestic beauty, Pongour Waterfall is also known as the "Number One Waterfall in Southern Vietnam" and has become one of the must-see destinations when visiting Da Lat.
Suoi Tranh Waterfall is located in Suoi May hamlet, Duong To commune, Phu Quoc island district, Kien Giang province. The Suoi Tranh stream originates from small streams on the Ham Ninh mountain range. After winding through small mountain gorges, it forms a gentle, clear stream that, combined with rocky rapids, creates a dreamy beauty under the lush green forest canopy.
Tranh Stream on Phu Quoc Island is a natural tourist destination that attracts many visitors. Although not a large waterfall, the harmonious blend of mountains and stream creates a stunning landscape that captivates visitors from their first visit.
Suoi Tranh Waterfall
Visitors can visit Tranh Stream at any time of year. It's a natural ecotourism area, so it's open to visitors in every season.
However, to fully appreciate the beauty of this place, you should choose to visit between June and January of the following year. During this time, the weather in Phu Quoc is beautiful, with sunlight filtering through the trees and abundant water flowing through the streams. This evokes a peaceful yet majestic natural landscape.
To enrich the range of stamp collecting products and better serve customers and stamp collectors, Vietnam Post has designed four first-day issue stamps featuring images that correspond to the four waterfalls featured in the stamp set.
The "Vietnam Waterfalls" stamp set will be available through the postal network from August 15, 2022 to June 30, 2024.
