On April 18, 2025, BYD Vietnam Co., Ltd. (BYD Vietnam) officially launched the Sealion 6 model, marking the first time the advanced DM-i Super Hybrid technology was introduced to domestic consumers. In addition, the BYD app was also officially made available to BYD vehicle owners in Vietnam.
At the launch event, BYD Vietnam also officially introduced the large all-electric SUV Sealion 8, offering a perfect combination of powerful performance and spaciousness, targeting successful families and high-end businesses.

BYD Vietnam has launched its two newest models: the Sealion 6 and the Sealion 8.
BYD Sealion 6 - A new era for hybrid technology.
The Sealion 6 is not only a new step in BYD's electrification strategy, but also a symbol of the perfect blend of superior performance, impressive fuel efficiency, and the smooth driving experience characteristic of electric vehicles.
The car's design is based on the "Ocean Aesthetics" philosophy – BYD's signature design language, inspired by the smooth and fluid movement of the ocean. Subtle curves are combined with bold, angular details, creating a dynamic, modern, and futuristic appearance.
The body, with its prominent creases, creates a visual effect of movement, while the streamlined rear gives a sense of stability yet elegance. The sporty 19-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels and aerodynamic rear wing help the Sealion 6 not only attract attention aesthetically but also optimize performance at high speeds.
With overall dimensions of up to 4,775 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, and 1,670 mm in height, along with a wheelbase of 2,765 mm, the Sealion 6 is the largest model in the C-segment SUV category. These dimensions not only give the car a substantial and robust appearance but also provide a surprisingly spacious interior, especially in the rear seats and luggage compartment, perfectly suited to the needs of young families and those who frequently travel.
The Sealion 6 represents BYD's philosophy of sustainable development and a focus on a comprehensive user experience. At its heart is the DM-i Super Hybrid powertrain, integrating a high-performance 1.5L Xiaoyun PHEV engine with a powerful electric motor, producing a total output of 214 horsepower and a maximum torque of 300 Nm. Despite being a hybrid, this model delivers a quiet yet powerful driving experience, comparable to a purely electric vehicle, from startup to instantaneous acceleration.
The DM-i Super Hybrid technology is optimized so that the gasoline engine acts primarily as a generator, while the electric motor handles most of the propulsion. This unique design philosophy helps the BYD Sealion 6 set a new benchmark for fuel efficiency in its segment. The car consumes only 1.1 L/100 km* when the battery is at 100%, providing a significant advantage in operating costs.
BYD equips the vehicle with an 18.3 kWh Blade Battery, allowing for a pure electric driving range of up to 100 km and a combined driving range of over 1,200 km. This offers maximum convenience for customers, enabling pure electric driving in urban areas and flexibility for longer journeys by switching to hybrid mode.

BYD app - intelligent connection between users and vehicles
As part of its strategy to enhance user experience, BYD officially introduces the BYD multi-utility super app, the first of its kind in the Vietnamese market. Developed specifically for the BYD smart vehicle ecosystem, this app is fully compatible with all officially distributed models, providing a seamless and exceptionally convenient connection between users and their vehicles.
The BYD app not only acts as a "smart key" right on your mobile phone – allowing users to unlock, lock, and start their car remotely without carrying a physical key – but also integrates a range of advanced features to enhance the quality of their daily driving experience. From turning on the air conditioning before getting into the car to avoid temperature shock, locating the car in a parking lot, to sharing routes with loved ones for peace of mind on every journey.
But that's not all; the app is also a comprehensive vehicle management tool: tracking vehicle status, checking tire pressure, monitoring battery level, adjusting air conditioning temperature, receiving notifications when the battery is full... All with just a few simple taps on your smartphone. The app also supports managing multiple vehicles simultaneously, automatically updates software, and optimizes performance, making it especially useful for transportation businesses, taxi companies, or families owning multiple vehicles.
At BYD Vietnam, all models are covered by a standard 6-year vehicle warranty (equivalent to the first 150,000 km, whichever comes first) and an 8-year battery warranty (equivalent to the first 160,000 km, whichever comes first).
