Nikkei - Japan's financial newspaper, reported on June 23 that Europe is the next region that wants Vietnam to resume international flights because Vietnam is one of the countries that repelled Covid-19 the fastest, with no new cases in the community for more than two consecutive months.

In an interview with Nikkei Asia in Ho Chi Minh City in late June, Nicolas Audier, chairman of the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam, called on Vietnamese authorities to agree to issue visas and allow foreigners to enter the country.
Currently, Hanoi has allowed international visitors to leave the country and received repatriation flights for citizens from countries around the world. But standard and commercial flights between Europe and Vietnam are still suspended, with the expectation of resuming in 2021. Mr. Audier hopes that Vietnam will shorten the time and launch international routes right after the EVFTA - Vietnam - EU Free Trade Agreement takes effect on August 1.

According to Mr. Audier, after the EVFTA comes into effect, many companies in Europe will be more interested in Vietnam. Many businessmen and investors want to visit Vietnam for a few days during their business trips to Asia. This is also the reason why he expects Vietnam to soon reopen international commercial flights.
Before Europe, many Asian countries have put Vietnam on the first list of countries they want to cooperate with after opening their borders and international aviation, including Japan and Myanmar. Foreigners who have been in Vietnam for 14 consecutive days when going to Singapore do not have to undergo centralized quarantine.

On June 18, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Le Thi Thu Hang said: "Vietnam is discussing with a number of countries such as China, Japan, and South Korea about gradually resuming travel, based on the actual situation and needs of both sides."
