Amid the Covid-19 pandemic, Songshan Airport in Taipei launched a new service called "Can't leave Taiwan? Pretend to be overseas at Songshan" to help those with a wanderlust relive the feeling of traveling they haven't experienced in a long time.

Accordingly, 90 participants in the "pretend travel" tour will have the opportunity to visit the airport located in the heart of Taipei, next to the Keelung River. Tour buyers will relive the experience of going through immigration, boarding and disembarking, and returning home. According to the airport's website, three such tours will take place on July 2nd, 4th, and 7th.

Đài Loan đã đóng cửa vào tháng 3 trong bối cảnh đại dịch bùng phát mạnh mẽ. Du khách quốc tế vẫn bị cấm đến thăm hòn đảo này.

Taiwan went into lockdown in March amid a major outbreak of the pandemic. International tourists remain banned from visiting the island.

Chih-ching Wang, Deputy Director of the airport, said the experiential tours will take half a day and allow visitors to experience what it's like to travel abroad. "Those who don't have the opportunity to take international flights at Songshan can use this opportunity to experience and learn more about boarding procedures and related services," Wang said. Tour participants will be "the first to experience the new facilities at the airport" and take home "exclusive and mysterious gifts."
