Accordingly, 90 participants of the "pretend to travel" tour will have the opportunity to visit this airport located in the center of Taipei, next to the Keelung River. Customers who buy the tour will relive the experience of going through immigration procedures, getting on and off the plane and returning home. According to the announcement on the airport's website, there will be three such tours taking place on July 2, 4 and 7.
Taiwan went into lockdown in March amid the pandemic, and international tourists are still banned from visiting the island.
The experiential tours will take half a day and allow visitors to experience what it is like to travel abroad, said Chih-ching Wang, deputy director of the airport. "Those who do not have the opportunity to take international flights at Songshan can use this opportunity to experience and learn more about boarding procedures and related services," Wang said. Tour participants will be "the first to experience the new facilities at the airport" and take home "exclusive and mysterious gifts."
