"Peach, Pho, and Piano" is a film by director Phi Tien Son, recreating the most intense and heroic moments in the battle to defend Hanoi by the army and people of the capital city in late 1946 and early 1947.
With battle imminent, the people of the capital city still appeared with their simple beauty, patriotism, and refined, elegant character. They loved life, but were also courageous and ready to sacrifice themselves to protect the land of Hanoi.
The film features People's Artist Trung Hieu, People's Artist Tran Luc, actors Doan Quoc Dam, Cao Thuy Linh, Anh Tuan, Nguyet Hang, singer Tuan Hung, and others.
The film recreates the glorious moments of the capital city in the past.
Mr. Vi Kien Thanh, Director of the Department of Cinematography, stated: “In commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of Hanoi, the Department of Cinematography supports the proposal of Hanoi Radio and Television Station and Vietnam Television to screen the film “Peach, Pho and Piano,” so that a wide audience can watch a film about the 60 days and nights of fighting to defend the capital in 1946-1947.”
"Peach, Pho, and Piano" is a critically acclaimed film that has won numerous prestigious awards and holds a special appeal for the public. The film, showcasing the heroic spirit of Hanoi and broadcast on Hanoi Television, will continue to be a bridge connecting the past, present, and future, uniting generations of Vietnamese people, and evoking beautiful and proud memories of the history of the heroic capital, the City for Peace.
The film received high praise from critics.
This year, the Vietnam Film Department, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, announced the submission of Vietnamese films for the Oscar selection from August 9, 2024, and received four applications: "Pho and Piano," "The Price of Happiness," "Flip Face 7: One Wish," and "Mai." On September 23, 2024, the selection committee met and chose "Pho and Piano" to represent Vietnam. The film created a ticket frenzy at the beginning of 2024. In addition, the film won the Silver Lotus Award at the 23rd Vietnam Film Festival and the Silver Kite Award at the Vietnam Film Association Awards.
