During her 4 months working in India, Le Thi Yen Nhi (23 years old, Nghe An) had many experiences and interesting discoveries about this country. Recently, she trekked Deoria Tal - Tungnath in the Himalayas. "This trekking journey is not only an adventure, but also a spiritual experience and a strong personal connection with majestic nature," Yen Nhi shared with Travellive.
Yen Nhi loves to explore and conquer herself with new experiences.
For those who love nature and are passionate about trekking, Tungnath Trek is a suitable experience. "In my opinion, this route is easy and comfortable for those new to trekking because the path is made of stone steps, the scenery is clear and not too dense," she shared. It took her and the whole group about 4 hours from the starting point to reach Deoria Tal Lake. Deoria Tal Lake attracts visitors with its clear blue water located at an altitude of about 2,438 m.
The beauty of Deoria Tal lake is located at an altitude of about 2438 meters.
The trail meanders through charming villages and oak forests, eventually leading to the serene Chopta meadows. From Chopta to Tungnath, the trail is covered with rhododendrons against the mesmerizing backdrop of the Himalayas.
The ancient Tungnath temple dedicated to Lord Shiva sits like a spiritual oasis.
The trek to Tungnath was more challenging for Yen Nhi. Although it was only about 8.9 km round trip, the road was difficult with many slippery ice sections and steep terrain. When she was near the top of the mountain, she felt dizzy and fainted due to altitude sickness. After receiving first aid, she woke up and continued to the top of the mountain. It took about 4 hours to complete this trek.
The trekking route to Tungnath temple is quite difficult with lots of snow and ice.

The view is magnificent.
"Trekking is not only a physical challenge but also a psychological challenge. Every step brings a sense of victory and new excitement, making me feel strong and full of energy. Trekking also gives me the opportunity to explore my own abilities. In addition to the beautiful scenery in the Himalayas, I have a good impression of the Indian people. They are very cheerful, love to sing and dance, both boys and girls dance very well. In particular, they always know how to care for foreigners," Yen Nhi shared.
What to prepare for the Deoria Tal - Tungnath Chopta trekking trip?
She started trekking the Deoria Tal route on the first afternoon when she arrived in Chopta. According to the team captain, the route is about 17 km long, round trip. She walks a lot every day, so she has prepared herself physically. "After the first day, I had to take motion sickness and allergy medicine because of dizziness when going up high. You should take motion sickness medicine before the trip because when the car climbs the pass with continuous curves, and don't forget to prepare anti-high shock medicine when trekking," Yen Nhi noted.
You should prepare a good pair of trekking shoes for a safe and complete trip.
Appropriate clothing for a trekking trip is equally important. You should prepare a thermal shirt, a down jacket, a sweater, a pair of the most comfortable shoes (it is best to prepare specialized trekking shoes), iron straps for the soles of the shoes to grip well on the ice, a scarf, hat, gloves, sunscreen, moisturizer, lip balm, raincoat, sunglasses... Especially, choose a good pair of glasses to protect your eyes. Because during the movement, your eyes will be greatly affected if you look at the snow for a long time without wearing glasses.
Regarding food, you can prepare cakes, chocolate, energy bars, water, energy drinks, etc. "Indians usually do not eat salty foods when trekking or traveling. You can prepare some salty foods such as sausages, salty cakes, etc. Also, don't forget to prepare some dances because Indians always sing and dance a lot," Yen Nhi noted.
You should prepare some snacks.
