50% discount on entrance fees to Hue Imperial City for 3 months.

According to the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province, the tourism industry in the province has seen significant improvements since the beginning of 2020. In January alone, the number of visitors increased by 22.01%, and revenue increased by 14.89% compared to the same period last year. However, from February onwards, due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and the nationwide lockdown, Hue's tourism industry suffered serious losses. In the first four months of 2020, the number of tourists visiting Hue reached approximately 940,069, a 50% decrease compared to the same period. The estimated losses are around 2,250 billion VND, of which over 700 billion VND was directly incurred by tourism businesses.

Since the end of April, after the government lifted the social distancing order, the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province decided to waive 100% of the entrance fee to historical sites until May 7th, attracting over 22,000 domestic visitors.

Continuing its recovery, Hue is implementing a 50% discount on entrance fees from May 8th to July 31st, 2020, to stimulate demand and revive the province's tourism industry. It is expected that, starting in August, depending on the domestic and international tourist markets, the province will consider further reducing entrance fees to attract visitors in the remaining months, but not exceeding 50%.

In addition to discounted tickets, Thua Thien Hue province's tourism sector will also organize a National Travel Conference at the end of May to connect with accommodation and tourism service businesses and announce the province's stimulus packages; and connect with Da Nang and Quang Nam to form preferential tour programs linking the Central region. The province will also consider adding more free art performances at the Imperial Citadel at a fixed time to serve the needs of tourists.

From now until the end of 2020, Thua Thien Hue's tourism industry will also focus on developing and organizing attractive festivals and events to create highlights to attract tourists, such as: Hue Festival 2020; Hue - Culinary Capital Festival; Hue - Ao Dai Capital Festival; and other festivals such as: Hue International Lion Dance Festival, Hue Hip-hop Festival.
