To celebrate the 112th anniversary of International Women's Day on March 8th, Hue is implementing a major promotion for tourists. Specifically, all female tourists wearing traditional Vietnamese ao dai (long dress) when visiting historical sites managed by the Hue Imperial Citadel Conservation Center will receive free admission from March 5th to March 10th, 2022. Besides this special offer for tourists, Hue is also encouraging its residents to wear ao dai. Therefore, during these days, one can see Hue bathed in the vibrant colors of Vietnamese ao dai.

Through the aforementioned program, Thua Thien Hue province aims to promote the wearing of the ao dai (Vietnamese traditional dress) among locals and tourists, becoming a step forward on the path to reviving the traditional ao dai, in order to build and develop the brand "Hue - The Ao Dai Capital of Vietnam," and at the same time, to become a world-recognized heritage site.
The graceful ao dai (traditional Vietnamese dress) is not only seen at the historical sites of Hue Imperial City, but also shines brightly at the famous Dong Ba Market. For almost a week now, all the vendors, officials, and management staff at Dong Ba Market have been wearing colorful ao dai to celebrate the 112th anniversary of International Women's Day on March 8th.
Dong Ba is a famous ancient market, over 100 years old, in Hue city, located outside the East Gate (now Dong Ba Gate).
The market is one of the attractions for tourists visiting Hue, offering a wide variety of goods, from high-end to budget-friendly.
Dong Ba Market caters to the shopping needs of many tourists as well as residents of Hue.
The imminent reopening of tourism is bringing many positive benefits to small business owners in the market.
Small vendors enthusiastically sell souvenirs to visitors.
Despite being busy with trade year-round, whenever there are national holidays or major events, traders at Dong Ba Market always actively participate in activities promoting Vietnamese ao dai (traditional dress), contributing to the promotion of the traditional beauty of Vietnamese women, thereby providing interesting and distinctly Hue-style experiences for tourists whenever they visit Dong Ba Market.
With tourism about to reopen, more and more tourists are visiting Hue, and the market is gradually returning to its original bustling atmosphere.

The return of the traditional ao dai dress to Dong Ba Market marks the beginning of a determined effort to restore the market's cultural identity, fostering goodwill and connection with customers under the motto: "Civilized and friendly are the hallmarks of Dong Ba."
Previously, in response toAo Dai Week 2022Thua Thien Hue province has also launched an initiative encouraging all civil servants, public employees, workers, and students (especially female officials, civil servants, public employees, and workers) to wear traditional ao dai in office and school activities from March 2nd to March 10th, 2022.
