The new Klong Ong Ang walking street, located along both sides of Ong Ang canal, stretching from Damrong Sathit bridge to Saphan Han bridge, has been opened since the end of October. However, it is not simply a street with souvenir and food stalls on both sides.
Klong Ong Ang is part of Klong Rop Krung, a canal dug soon after King Rama I chose Bangkok as the new capital of Thailand in 1782.
This is also a place where street art performances of various styles are performed, reflecting the characteristics of the area. Another highlight of this old town is the buskers who entertain visitors with live music and other performances.
The street is also a place for street art performances with many different styles, showing the characteristics of the area.
Until recently, most of the area around the canal was still covered by markets selling second-hand goods, souvenirs... and was only cleared in 2015 in an urban planning project. After that, this place became a destination attracting domestic and international tourists. The new walking street is a mark that makes this area even more attractive.
