On the morning of May 13, at Saigon - Hiep Phuoc port (Nha Be district), Phu Quoc Expressway Joint Stock Company (investor) officially put into operation the fixed route Ho Chi Minh City - Con Dao with a "super" ship with a capacity of more than 1,000 passengers, shortening the time to 4 hours.
The boat departs from Hiep Phuoc Port (HCMC) at 7:00 a.m. and arrives at Ben Dam Port (Con Dao) at 11:30 a.m. The journey takes about 4 hours and 30 minutes, about 1 hour faster than the previous high-speed boat.
This is the largest high-speed passenger ship at sea in Vietnam today with a length of more than 77m, a width of about 9.5m, a speed of 35 nautical miles (more than 60km) per hour. The ship can operate in gusty winds of level 8, reducing seasickness and ensuring passenger safety. Completely built according to European standards, the ship can accommodate 1017 passengers, fully equipped with amenities such as high-class seats, air conditioning, free wifi, restaurant... Ticket prices range from 615,000 VND to 1.1 million VND/person/trip depending on the seat class.
Saigon-Con Dao high-speed train has its first scheduled trip
The passenger compartments are located on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors, with leather seats. Above the seats are compartments for life jackets. Each floor is equipped with a TV, toilet, fire protection system, and surveillance cameras. In addition, the ship's cabin also has a premium area with more spacious and private seats.
Each row of seats has curtains and power outlets. The top floor is a coffee and dining area, with long tables for guests to rest and work. All floors of the high-speed train have outdoor spaces for passengers to enjoy the scenery.
In addition to the above mentioned train route, Ho Chi Minh City previously had a high-speed train from the central area and a ferry from Can Gio to Vung Tau. According to the plan to develop passenger transport and waterway tourism from now until 2025, the city plans to invest in two more inner-city routes, including District 1 to District 7, Nha Be and from Bach Dang Wharf to Thanh Da.
