On May 6, Hanoi Department of Tourism held a two-way meeting to connect and exchange customers between Hanoi tourism businesses and travel agencies in the Far East region (Russian Federation).
In order to attract Vietnamese tourists to this land, Russian airline IrAero has opened a direct international flight route from Irkutsk (Russia) to Hanoi (Vietnam) with a frequency of 2 flights/week, making it very convenient for tourists to visit and explore the natural and cultural beauty of this place.
This direct flight helps shorten the travel time between the two cities from 9 hours to 6 hours and 30 minutes, opening up new tourism cooperation opportunities between Hanoi and the Far East (Russia).
rAero Airlines has opened a direct international flight from Irkutsk (Russia) to Hanoi (Vietnam).
The total number of Russian tourists to Vietnam was 646,524 in 2019, while in 2023, Vietnam welcomed less than 70,000 Russian visitors, even though it has completely opened its doors to international visitors and exempted 45-day visas for Russian citizens, effective from August 15, 2023.
The main reason is the lack of direct flights connecting Russian cities to tourist cities in Vietnam.
At the working exchange program to connect and exchange two-way customers between Hanoi tourism businesses and travel agencies in the Far East region, introducing the potential and strengths of tourism in the Far East region (Russian Federation), Vice President of the Asia-Europe Business Association Malinovskii Roman informed that the city of Irkutsk in Southeast Russia was founded in the 17th century, so it has many relics recognized by UNESCO as world heritage sites.
Irkutsk is a city located in Southeast Russia, the administrative center of Irkutsk Oblast with a population of about 620,000.
In particular, 60 km from the city center is Lake Baikal, considered the largest freshwater lake in the world with beautiful natural scenery and unique cultural features, so it is considered an ideal destination for international tourists.
According to the Hanoi Department of Tourism, in recent times, among the number of Vietnamese tourists choosing Russia as their destination, Hanoians account for over 50%. Hanoi has also signed a cooperation agreement with Moscow (Russia), through which it organizes a Vietnamese Goods Fair in Moscow.
It is expected that in September 2024, the Moscow Day event will be held in Hanoi, which is an opportunity for tourism businesses in the Far East to promote and connect tours to Irkutsk with Vietnamese partners.
