To meet the expected surge in travel demand during the peak summer tourist season of 2025 and a series of national and international events in Binh Dinh, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has just sent a document to domestic airlines, including Vietnam Airlines, VietJet, Bamboo Airways, Pacific Airlines and Vietravel Airlines, about increasing the number of night flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to/from Phu Cat Airport (Binh Dinh).
This directive was issued after the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam received an urgent request from the People's Committee of Binh Dinh Province. Binh Dinh Province is currently entering the peak tourist season, lasting from June to September 2025. This is the time when Binh Dinh will become the center of a series of large-scale, vibrant cultural, sports and tourism events, promising to attract a large number of tourists, athletes and delegations from all over.
During the period from June to September 2025, Binh Dinh province will organize many exciting cultural, sports and tourism activities and events of national and international scale.
From June to the end of September 2025, Binh Dinh will continuously organize many remarkable activities, creating a colorful and vibrant tourism picture. One of them is the "Summer Tourism Event Series 2025", a program that synthesizes entertainment activities, cultural experiences, and attractive tourism throughout the summer. Besides, there is VnExpress Marathon Quy Nhon 2025, a prestigious marathon that attracts thousands of professional and amateur athletes.
This is a golden opportunity for the province to welcome tourists from all over to visit.
The province will also be the venue for the Miss and Mister World Supermodel Contest, an international beauty and sports event, along with the 34th National Traditional Martial Arts Championship in 2025 - an important traditional sports event honoring the beauty of Vietnamese martial arts culture. Not only that, the 2025 National Youth 3x3 Basketball Championship will also be an attractive tournament for young basketball talents. In addition, many other sports and cultural events will take place throughout, making Binh Dinh an unmissable destination in the second and third quarters of 2025.
That's why the Civil Aviation Authority requires increasing night flights from two major cities here.
To meet the surge in tourists and event participants, the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province has requested the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam to pay attention, license and encourage airlines to organize more night flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Phu Cat Airport and vice versa, lasting from June until the end of 2025.
Realizing this situation, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has asked airlines to quickly develop detailed operation plans and increase resources to serve the peak summer season. In particular, tourist routes such as the route to Binh Dinh are forecast to record a sharp increase in demand. In total, 68,558 domestic flights are expected to be operated during this time, marking an impressive growth of 18% compared to the same period last year.
Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee also proposed that the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam consider maintaining night flights until the end of 2025, to serve the travel needs of people and tourists, and at the same time create momentum for local tourism development.
Vietnam Airlines has also announced an ambitious operation plan for the 2025 summer peak season, with more than 43,000 flights and nearly 9 million seats, an increase of nearly 14% compared to the same period in 2024. On the domestic flight network alone, the airline is expected to have 33,000 flights with more than 6.3 million seats, an increase of up to 28% compared to the regular flight schedule.
The airline also said it will continue to operate early morning and late evening flights to maximize service capacity, ensuring passengers have more flight time options, convenient for participating in events in Binh Dinh. Increasing night flights not only helps relieve pressure on daytime flights but also opens up great opportunities for Binh Dinh tourism, creating favorable conditions for visitors to fully experience the unique festivals and events in the land of martial arts.
